The stock market IS gambling

like

The SEC is far more resourced and able to detect insider trading then you’d imagine

It’s not gambling. The market always swings too much to one side and then corrects itself. On Friday, the markets sold off as investors were anxious on how low Chinese markets would open on Monday as that market was closed for a week due to chinese new year. Chinese market took a hit of 8% on Monday, which wasn’t as bad as it could have been, and so the market rebounded.

Why April specifically? Honest question

The number of infections did rise a much as feared over the weekend. I hope this is the trend going forward, but I’m still selling on a bump tomorrow.

2019/20 COVID layoff from my first position after 7 months
2020-2021 I had a few contract positions that went well, then I landed a permanent role that I stayed in for 6 months after getting a significantly better offer where I currently am.

Today, our Series A has been pushed again, and the company is struggling to complete full payroll.

How do I avoid looking like a job hopper?

On my 3rd job in 2 years (consultant for a year, then left for a new company that was impacted by COVID). My new work is not very interesting and can be very pigeon holed at times. The pay and benefits are top notch, which are keeping me here. Is it too soon to jump again for something I’m more interested in or is it better to wait?

Late Stage COVID Pandemic is really messing with me.

I’ve been unvaccinated (please don’t @ me) this entire time and have tested myself weekly since Sept 2020. Each result was negative, yet family/friends who have been vax’d have contracted the latest strains of flus and colds that have gone around over the past few months?

My dilemma and conflict comes from the fact that the pressure to get vax’d continues to grow, yet I just can’t muster the will to do so (cont.)

Buddy of mine has a degree in computer science. Was given two offers but both companies put a hiring freeze due to covid, with no foreseeable start date. Just seen him post on linkedin that he is looking for a new role. Is there anything I can do to help? I plan on sharing his post, but is there anything else I could be doing to help?

It might be unpopular. People in non-red states should get COVID travel passports.

Has anyone else hired during COVID struggled to develop rapport with their firm? I was hired while my city was in lockdown so the first months at my firm was completely virtual. After the city loosened restrictions, most of the the partners and associate still WFH. While the firm’s WFH policy has been great, I’ve lacked the face time to build connections with my co-workers and feel pretty isolated, even a year later. Anyone else in the same boat?

Alternate POV: COVID is a Republican conspiracy. Trump knew he would lose the election. Promoting social distancing would reduce the number of Democrats in DC to counter-protest. Face masks to prevent facial recognition.

Hey All, I had a recruiter give me feedback and update on interview process where they ended up telling me they’re shifting the job and basically need someone that fits that criteria (more local to them). After that, I had been transparent about interviewing elsewhere and the recruiter was pressing me nicely about the other opportunity I’m interviewing for. (The staffing agency it came from, the company, who I’m interviewing with, who I interviewed with, type of role) also what staffing ..CONTD.
