Rising Star
Minter for 12 years. Never felt the need for ynab. I may be wrong but my opinion is that ynab is for people on tight budget. If you are loosely tracking, Mint is more than enough
YNAB is worth every penny for me. When I first got it, I immediately felt like I got a raise because I knew exactly where each dollar was going. Can't recommend it more highly.
Had YNAB for about 8 years now. I personally love it. I have used the manual option over linking to accounts. Ultimately, it's down to your personal preference. It has a 34 day trial, you can give it a test run and see how you find it.
YNAB is life changing. You can choose to link your accounts or to track manually—whichever works for your comfort level. The difference between Mint and YNAB is that Mint is spending tracking only. YNAB is budgeting. There is nothing more comforting than always being prepared for “emergencies” (what I called things like a very expensive car repair bill pre-YNAB) which are true expenses under YNAB’s rules. There’s a reason those of us that use YNAB (at all income levels) are obsessed. My net worth has grown by $140K using YNAB and I only started using it in March 2019

I bought YNAB years ago and it was completely manual. Mint / Personal Capital links accounts, so it’s more automated.
Lol this is operator error. YNAB let’s you link accounts.
I studied the YNAB philosophy and adopted the zero sum budgeting mentality. Ididnot purchase the product. I wasn't comfortable linking my bank accounts to anything. If you seem to be asking yourself at the end of the month where does my money go? Then maybe Mint would work better. I like to be more hands-on so YNAB appealed to me. Also in a year, YNAB did help me reduce my debt.
