We're never getting rid of COVID. "Vaccine" doesn't prevent someone from carrying it and spreading it. Best hope is it becomes endemic and we collectively have a strong enough immune response to make it more like a cold or flu which is what we're seeing with Omicron. Once we accept this, maybe we can move on with our lives.

like

So yes and no to the argument between B1 and C1. Hospitalizations right now are still mostly from Delta - Omicron doesn't pack the punch that delta does, but they're both still making rounds. Vaccine does help with delta and probably helps with the punch from Omicron; however, because of a mutated spike protein, doesn't prevent catching and spreading omicron. The current vaccine is not the end-all, be-all solution. Nor is taking boosters of the same vaccine. It only addresses the spike protein as was seen in the first number of variants. Viruses mutate quickly and adjust - omicron is proof of this.

So yes, it's beneficial to get the vaccine - this isn't an anti-vax post or meant to start an anti-vax type of commentary. Was trying to point out that the conversation still appears to be that we're going to wipe it out. We're still freaking out about case count and vaccinated people getting it even though the majority of those cases are not actually serious. We're still heavily isolating, canceling things, and cowering in fear. Unfortunately, at the moment, it seems like policies and practices are being put in that respond to fear and are trying to quell fear - think of it like false security methods - meant to make the end user feel secure when risk mitigation is actually pretty low.

I do thing a modicum of caution is warranted, but, I think as a people, we're not on the same page with the way that we think this should go. I just think it's high time we start discussing how to move forward rather than hiding in our houses.

Y’all I just need to vent real quick as my husband is gone for the week several time zones away and I’m alone. This late second trimester heartburn is unreal! I’ve never really had heartburn before but holy shit! I find myself pacing and feeling sick to my stomach because of it, unable to focus on anything else, and then I’m drained because all my energy is spent focusing on just this pain. Hoooo 😵 10/10 do not recommend

With my wife for 14 years, 2 kids under 8y - both under a lot of pressure bc Covid/work/private life/… and have been (unconsciously) running away from our couple not working “since a long time” (dixit my wife). We want to try and fix it, but I also met someone new (not sure if she would even want me) and wondering if it’s worth fixing it (since we are trying/running/avoiding it for years) - just worried about the kids…any advice

I'm an RN of 7 years, experience as a coordinator, on committees and do all the things. But now I just don't want to go to work anymore. I have anxiety every morning over nothing, just having to go perform my job. I could do my job in my sleep so I'm just lost and confused. My body is clearly sending me messages to leave. But where do I go? I think I need to step out of patient care.

Has anyone had a nurse state the assumed sex at 12 week ultrasound? The nurse is fairly sure it's a boy, and I'm wondering how accurate her guess is based on a close look of the genitals. Confirmation won't happen until 20 week appt, too far away!

Whenever i have a big deadline, my body goes into a panic mode where my energy immediately goes to figuring out how I’ll get something done well and on time. Outwardly, I don’t seem stressed so no one notices but actually I usually feel like I have a cold: fatigue, headache, sore throat, sinus infection. When a task is done, i stop feeling like crap. It’s been like this since law school. Any tips on managing stress or moving towards doing good work without my body shutting down lol?

So… 3.5 year relationship came crashing in Jan due to covid depression, work burn out, lockdown etc. We have stayed in contact and recently he has come around to apologizing and considering getting back together. However he also revealed he started seeing someone casually 4 weeks ago and technically is cheating on her by meeting me for coffee and to discuss this. I’m upset that he’s dating others but shouldn’t be right? I mean, I did the same. Still hurts though. And I told him to sort that out
