Depends on your teams, but usually stayed late and expensed dinner at the client site/office. Then did extra work in the office on the weekends
Nope they kept us there for the full 11-12 hour day. Don’t think that would fly now
When I was an A1 I was staying until 11 pm during busy season and then driving home half an hour. I’m never doing that again. If I have to work late fine but I’m going home. It was literally unsafe to drive that late after working all day, I can’t believe I put up with it

Pwc3 what is so hard to understand. Its safer to drive at 7pm when a person is less tired than 11pm when a person is very tired. Even when the same amount if sleep was had
Depends on your team but you can only get dinner if you stay at office or client site for I believe it’s 10 hours, and required to expense your Uber etc. Also it can be super nice to be with your team in the late hours but I think there will be more flexibly going forward. There are economic perks to staying onsite later.
At KPMG they changed the rules so that it’s 10 hours anywhere including from home
Based on teams - my team the unspoken rule was everybody went home at the same time (usually around 9-10pm), no one left before others because you allegedly should be working same amount of time (regardless of productivity...) Fuck that, thank God remote happened
Why everyone agrees to work and live this way?????
YMMV as it depends on your team and some in charges are just douches. I’ve worked with more conservative partners/in charges that require face time. But in general teams are pretty flexible as long as you get your stuff done.
I’ve had pretty flexible teams for my whole time with the firm. If others were staying late and we were expensing dinner, we’d do that but otherwise it was take a break to go home, eat, be with family if you had one or roommate, and then get back on. Working weekends was only if needed.
During busy season. Everyone works at the client site or office for 11 + hours. The A1s order food for everyone else. During non busy season - everyone leaves around 5.
