You didn’t hear it from me but the strike at Facebook is because a policy manager or something like got fed up with conditions and basically cursed out the whole policy leadership all the way up to Nick Clegg and Mark Zuckerberg. Please god bless us all with the audacity.

Looking for suggestions on a topic that’s probably here all time:neighborhoods.
I want to look for an apartment for my own (no roommates) that is east of the 405, not overly crowded with unhoused people, and safe enough for a single woman to walk around. Looking to spend no more than $1800 because I’m cheap. Any thoughts?

Hi everyone! Just some quick questions from me 😊 how much time did you roughly take to study for the NY Bar Exam? How exactly did you organize yourself in preparing for it? Did you first study the MBE + MEE subjects and then just focused on doing tests or were you doing the tests while studying? Thanks to all those who'll answer.

When do partners decide when an associate is good enough to make partner? I’m a senior and it is extremely clear to me when an associate has it or doesn’t, and moreover it doesn’t take eight years to figure it out; it takes just one or two matters for me to know if they’re adding value or are ultimately just a commodity. It’s hard for me to avoid the conclusion that associates are largely being strung along by partners who are going to can them at some point, long after that decision is made.

I'm a senior associate at an AmLaw 100 firm being considered for an non-equity partner position at another AmLaw 100 firm which is a bit further down the pole. There is a business development expection to eventually convert to equity; the expectation at the start is to assist with existing work. Jumping essentially let's me short track the road to partner. I'm unsure about the opportunity, which is essentially me starting over. Any wisdom on this situation? Thanks!

I’m applying for admission to NY by transferred UBE score. Live in NJ but work in Manhattan. I was told that if I submit something showing I work in the city I will be certified to the First Department rather than the Third. Other than the location of the interview and the ceremony, are there any substantial differences between the departments? I am admitted in two other states so I don’t anticipate any issues but I’d like to get this done easily and quickly.

One of the most frustrating things is having the partner “de-prioritize” your deal. They stop responding to questions, take forever to review things you’ve sent them and act annoyed when you try to follow-up. Does anyone else experience this?

Paraphrasing a partner during practice group call:

Not surprised looters went for shoe stores but Barnes and Noble was untouched... they can’t read.

I was floored by this (ignoring that maybe looters were interested in resale value, perhaps). Such clear racism. None of the other partners even attempted to call this partner out. Call went silent for moment before another partner changed subject. Nobody in practice group AA.

Ashamed, I didn’t speak. Concerned for my employment in these tkmes
