You have money left over after maxing out 401k, IRA, HSA. Would you do a megabackdoor roth or just a taxable account?

Mega backdoor Roth, if I had that option. If you will need the money for something in the near term, I would would not put it in a tax advantaged account.

I was leaning towards that too. I have 6 months of savings for emgergencies.

MBD

I would invest it on my own if I already had savings/emergency funds.

You can invest in your own in a Roth IRA

Mega backdoor is a fantastic tool. Use it while it’s available

Thoughts in continuing to rent in a small town just outside the city and staying remote vs moving to a bigger city and paying significantly more? Make 100k, paying 1k/mo in rent, maxing 401k, roth IRA, HSA, and extra in brokerage. No plans of buying a house (want to keep renting for flexibility as I invest the rest but obv can change down the line).

Worth it to slow down FIRE path for a bit for longer term career growth and accelerate it in a year or 2? Anyone else go through this thinking?

Need investing recommendations.
I’m 26, have 25k in savings (APR 0.5%), and 10k in a no penalty CD (APR 1%). I’m thinking about opening a Roth IRA, and I could contribute 6k to it for 2020’s income as well as another 6k throughout this year for 2021. But, my current salary is 91k so I’m worried about hitting the 140k income limit before making much of an investment in it. I want to be as hands off as possible.
If you could also suggest where/how to do what you’re suggesting that’d be great.

So, I started watching “Limitless” with Chris Hemsworth. Apparently, he found out he carries both genes for dementia which puts him at a higher risk. So the series is about him changing things in his life for longevity. The third episode is about fasting and he fasts for 4 days until the day he has to hunt for his food. Does anyone in healthcare have thoughts on this type of fasting? I know it is done in some cultures and religions, but to what extent?

Can someone explain how mega backdoor Roth works?

Here’s my understanding based on Google:

- I can invest 20500 to traditional 401k
- Company match & additional $ goes to Roth 401k (40500)
- At year end I roll this over to Roth IRA with a form my brokerage gives me. Does this sound correct?
- What happens if the value of assets goes up/down at year end?
