It’s crazy when you start eyeing people like “hey, there’s a warm body, they could fill in”

Sadly, You are so right, I often feel like I am living in Crazy Town in the State of Denial. Administration needs to address many issues, appropriate coverage for teachers a priority, primarily in our children’s best interest.

I’ve given up on getting a sub. I have created a YouTube channel with art videos I have made. All the classroom teachers have to do is play the video and do a bit of facilitation.

That’s a good idea. But then they lose their prep right, if you are gone?

I feel like we’re just days away from having cleaners and other support staff cover classrooms 😂 we have literally no subs!

Same, the homeroom teachers cover for specials, they do not get subs for them, none to be found, which adds to an already packed day. We have no coverage for lunch, recess, and carpool. Loved to see our operation staff have to step in when a homeroom teachers is out, they have a bit of an attitude regarding teachers.

Any suggestions on timing to tell my boss I’m leaving teaching for another job? I make 26k a year and have been working multiple jobs to pay bills. I’m leaving primarily because I get paid so little. New job pays double for better and less stress. I feel bad not telling parents who have signed up to come specifically for me. But they have zero idea how poorly I’m paid.

It's always tough, but this year it has felt impossible to stay on top of grading. Sure, there are online quizzes the computer can grade for you, but that data is so limited. What about the steps they took to get that answer on the math problem? I need to see it to know what they missed... Between submission of blurry photos and going through the process of uploading, downloading, and squinting to see their work, it takes me 20x longer to grade work for my digital kids. #thestruggle
