Question for the bowl. Recruiter arranged an interview with a local legal firm for an Office Manager role next week. On paper everything looks great, but the firm has a reputation as being as "ambulance chasers" and for only hiring "good looking young people." I'm really not sure that I would fit in with that work culture. I will go in with an open mind, but If I start to get the vibe that it isn't the place for me, at what point should you just end the interview early?
I know some firms offer fitness/health stipends to cover expenses of gym memberships, equipment, etc. what do the different firms offer?

Hi, I want a Referral in Gartner, I have the job details with me. Please let me know if someone can refer. I will share the details on the mail. Thanks
Old manager had an open role on his team at new company. I went through the interview process and was told I got the offer. He wants me to decide ASAP but I want to see the actual letter and make sure the jump is worth it. He quoted me numbers and wanted me to decide before recruiter reached out. I asked to extend twice cuz he wanted an answer ASAP (within 1-3 days) without me seeing numbers. I’d rather have the tangible offer and decide. Is it unprofessional to ask?

Hi moms..I am 38 but will be 39 when third kid comes along. The other two are 8 and 17 months. Finally found a job I like and am good at. We were officially done having kids after number 2 but this sudden surprise happened. I am 11 weeks and still can't get excited about this. I just never enjoyed the new born phase and pregnancy. I am also sad about being the old mom in the playground..I know not important but feel embarrassed about having a surprise at 39. Can anyone relate?
Anything interesting happening in NYC between now and the end of the month?

I have a year of experience in a clinical ops role where learning is quite stagnant. I’m eagerly looking to transition to good challenging opportunities in life science consulting/analytics and allied domains. Which organisations/startups/roles should one apply to being a non-technical applicant with a masters in biotechnology?
It would be really helpful to get your guidance on further course of action.
WOW I just found this bowl and it truly is the most beautiful place on fishbowl. Praying for y’all today!! ♥️

I am looking at investing some money as an angel investor in new startups; the returns (and weighted risk) is definitely encouraging.
I would appreciate if you can share your experience and resources that you have used to get some good deals in this space.
Might be an odd question: we have multiple great ideas and sources of funding. Would it make sense to build out a portfolio of the companies as a fund or to build them directly? Concerned about spreading too thin by pursuing them all but all have significant potential. I have always been more entrepreneurial, never really thought about scaling up and running multiple companies. Thoughts?
Anyone go from consulting to consulting start-up? Do you mind sharing experience of how you won in the space?
This may be or seem like a very generalized question but how did some of you all start? Where do you start? I’m curious about learning about the process of creating a startup, but honestly want to learn more…really looking for recourses, good books and stories!! TIA!!

Just starting up a Airbnb Property Management business. I am located in New Jersey, wondering if corporate leasing townhomes , lofts, and or condos, (if accepted) would be well profitable in the water front area near the Hudson between New York and New Jersey. (Hoboken, edgewater, weehawken, etc)
I’ve been involved in the building and growth of a small family business for the past 4 years, growing internally as the company continues to scale. I’ve been promised over the years a more defined leadership role with equity, but only promises. Recently, I’ve been offered a job at an analytics company with over 8000+ employees with a pay raise and substantial career growth. Any advise???

Hi folks, I am working with a few friends on a fintech idea. I opted to build the marketing roadmapping strategy for the soft launch/prototype phase as I want to learn about the field. Any guidance where should I start? Any guidance, books, topics will be helpful 😊
How do I evaluate this offer from a Series D startup? got an offer that looks like this:
- Base: $150k-160k
- Equity: 20k-15k options
It’s my first startup offer so I find this a bit confusing/unusual. They said the combo depends on the base I choose. The ratio isn’t really one to one, so how do I know which combination in the range to choose?
Also, can I still negotiate when they already set the range? Like more options for $160k base vs what they capped at 15k?
Anyone got any good book recommendations about startups? (Please say why you’d recommend!)
Any good recommended books on how to build a scalable product and team? I'm looking for recommendations for two areas: 1) in general laying the groundwork in a startup to have the tools and especially processes in place to scale, and 2) tactical focus on building a SaaS project. I've been promoted into a management role from Dev roots, so need to learn more PM processes to be an effective manager in day job, plus would like to start building my own SaaS solution.
