Young Associates: Every major firm is either laying off associates or considering laying off associates. Don't be fooled by your firm's silence. They are trying to pass off these layoffs as performance related moves but you should not be fooled. Be wary and try, if possible, to keep your hours up.

Why did Deloitte’s federal practice have layoffs? Given that the clients are large government entities. I can understand it happening in commercial but federal makes no sense

Something’s been weighing on my mind. I messed up in a steering committee & tripped infront of the Sr. Client Stakeholders. I made a few other mistakes and was rolled off by my manager (SM) b/c I sucked and it was a higher burn engagement he needed a stronger BA. Now I find out he might’ve been laid off and I can’t help but to think it was my fault. We never really talked after this engagement but I feel like it’s my clumsiness that him fired and it makes me feel guilty and give a me anxiety.

I was laid off when Covid hit as a Director of food and beverage in West Hollywood /Beverly Hills, relocated to Omaha Nebraska with the same organization to open a property. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 12. My family did not opt to put me on medication. I illegally discovered Adderall in college. Worked incredible. Got diagnosed after college & after having been fired from my first job. Passed the CPA exams on Adderall. Went off of it again. I do everything well at my job except for attention to detail within my excel files & emails. Will taking ADHD medication really fix this? Does anyone else have this issue and was it resolved by taking medication?

How do I deal with a super intense senior associate that is making life difficult? This associate sees no difference between 11 AM and 11 PM, weekend or weekday. I have roughly $150k in student loans, but I plan to get a government job and have the loans forgiven under PSLF after my stint in biglaw. I want to put a huge down payment on a really nice house so that when I quit, the monthly payments are low. Does it make sense to save my money for the house, or would you recommend still paying as much as I can towards student loans? (28, never owned a house and not good with understanding finances).
