They have selected you because you are good enough for them. Surely they're more worried about risk to their product. This is your imposter syndrome playing mind games. Or complacency.
Whats your YOE and tech stack friend. A ship is safe in harbour but that is not what ships are built for.
So do not let these doubts creep into your mind.
If you are in a position to take some risks, you should go for it.
Very helpful 👍
People who do not want to give 100%, there is no place for job security.
Remember your salary is directly proportional to your hard work and efforts.
Agree with Accenture 100%. If salary is proportional to hardwork then we wouldn't see so much attrition rate.
Go ahead and join them. Every team invests time in making people learn. Companies like Dell don’t hire to fire. They see a person who can be trained and hire them.
Good luck and stay positive 🫡
Thank you so much 😊
Buddy if you are not good enough then they wouldn't have selected you. You are good enough for that job, it's just your insecurity playing mind games. Just put in more efforts in the initial months so that you will get comfortable soon there once you get hang of everything you are working on.
I second this! Great answer!
Thank you so much for the positive feedback. Sometimes we always feel to be secure, because of that all these thoughts.
10 yoe. Front end technologies. Sometimes I will also think like if I am not pushing myself when will I do or I may be have with that fear always. Only thing I scare about doing job search when something bad happens. How to tackle pressure. And we should not think security in same company as always forever?
Well.. I wont say that one can be fearless all the time. It is natural to get anxious and your situation is normal but at early stages in your career and age it is relatively easier to take risks. There is no one-size-fits-all advice for you since it depends on many factors such as your age your experience, techbstack , financial situation ( any loans etc ) , how many dependants do you have and other such things.
List down all potential good and bad scenarios and think your how can you broadly tackle the bad ones. That will give you confidence.
Companies value hard workers so even if you are new to the domain, your harswork anf sincerity will show up on few weeks time and one cannot miss it.
So dont doubt your abilities and bring such thoughts in mind. Give your best and best will happen to you.
There can always be a chance of bad luck even after all of this, not denying that..but then that can happen in your current company too and is beyond your control...so free up your mind and go for it
Whenever you interviewed you are being interviewed on primary as well as secondary skill requirement People make sure the primary skill should be good then only they compromise so back your self if you have been hired . Asking this question is like I have purchased a house on loan what if the builder runs away , you have done your hard work . You will do the same in future. Everyone learns one way or the other if you put work hard you will excel else you will be just average so go for it.
You know a lot about current domain, but if you switch you will know about 2 domains. You'll work on different things, make relationship with new people, learn a lot. You'll INCREASE YOUR VALUE by a lot. If your domain knowledge is this valuable, than your current company will have extra incentive to keep you. If a stranger values you more than your current company then they are talking you for granted.
Make yourself so valuable that you don't need job security, if today you're fired today, there would be 2 more companies who'd happily hire you.
Don't worry everyone is afraid of change...but change is for the better
I hope you are not married and have kids only then Someone would be worried about job security..otherwise new place , new people to learn from , more money..we are in IT..here if you are not upgrading yourself..I mean your skills, your company , your career.. then you will become obsolete in coming years..so while you thinking about job security now..you may not think about leaving job now but they will fire you in next 5-7 years for not thinking about yourself..change the mindset..take the risks..while you can..5 years is not much..I changed the job myself..put papers without having a job in hand..and now I am earning 4 times of it within an year..
Yes married and have baby who is yet to join school and one emi per month (around 26k).
This is the reason I always thinking about security.
Definitely Dell and do not repeat the same scenario in Dell after 5 years 🙂
If you believe in yourself, you'll have job security forever.
Don't ever think that a higher salary will lead to volatility in security.
Thank you 🙏
Can you tell your current CTC? And which organisation? Product based orgs mostly pay better than service ones
I always say ...You had fear of Job Security in Private Job... should have joined Govt job
I agree but once we landed here.. no going back right. So I feel we all are same boat on this.
One thing I have learnt in my experience, The more you get into uncomfortable situations away from your comfort zone, the faster you can learn and grow and that in turn allows you to be confident that you can just achieve anything in life, even during bad times. Forget about job security, if you continue to master newer technologies and market yourself in your network, you need not have to look for jobs, new opportunities will present themselves and people would come looking for you.
Agree, but how to tackle pressure when something bad happens in worst case.
Sometime you need to move out of your comfort zone to explore better version of yourself !!!
Job security is a myth my friend.
You should focus in earning and learning.
*Once an avid job security seeker, I was fired 6 years back and got a life lesson about job security and loyality, since then i dont expect any company to ensure my job security and in return I dont feel obliged to show my loyality in terms of spending long tenure with them. I only strive on either i get to earn or learn from my job.*
You can only grow if you continue to challenge yourself and that can be done if you are not in your comfort zone. From your post, it seems that you are too much in your comfort zone and hence very little growth is natural. Have confidence in yourself and move yourself out of this comfort zone and join Dell. You will learn more and grow.
You always have to risk it. You got to push yourself through uncomfortable situations. You cannot be stuck in one place thinking I’m comfortable here. Dell option seems great to me from a career growth standpoint and also growing in your role.
Take risks, calculated ones at least. You will have less regrets later.
