Almost half of America supports Trump too. Doesn’t make it right.
I bet this will be the post that makes them see the error of their ways 🙄
Based on the Admeter I don’t think the baby nut was a success. They had the strongest PR in America leading in, by far, and couldn’t even crack the top 20 after that ran.
So I disagree that everyday people think it’s fun tbh 🤷♂️
We do.
+1 for honesty 😂
The person at Kroger/Trader Joes/Shop Rite that has it in their cart/basket right now.
Trader Joe’s doesn’t sell Planters and I think you know that!
Ideally, you make something like Tide that both ad people and regular people like.
Production value/concept aside, they tapped into meme culture to create something that extends beyond one night of the year. They put a non existent brand on the map and is probably moving product- which is our job. Did I love it personally as an ad geek- no. Do I think it was smart- yes. In a a way, I’d say they did what set failed to do with puppy monkey baby- like that idea had so much room to flex socially, but because dew thought TV first without planning for the program around it, they failed. For planters, the tv spot was just a tactic under a much larger campaign, versus the main event- which is a much smarter way to plan integrated campaigns in this day and age.
I think everyone was expecting the stunt to have a purpose, like the launch of a new product (roasted peanut butter? Scorched nuts?), but it ultimately was pointless.
What was the takeaway? The goal? Making a meme - debatable this is one - isn’t in itself a worthy ambition of advertising.
Also this. Like it or not, they put this brand on the map.
My sister and her friends love Baby Nut and it’s really bugging me. Cheap play by Vayner
Sales matter. So we’ll find out in a couple of weeks who is right.
Wiedens broad claim is that advertising isn’t about sales. SC3s comment is about the Super Bowl spot specifically, which we know is a different kind of advertising. There are two different things here.
Yes, the Super Bowl is about brand awareness/building but if that doesn’t eventually translate into sales, how is that successful? Positive brand awareness is a big win but it needs to drive revenue. My client isn’t spending $5-8mill per spot if they’re not going to sell their products, even if it takes longer than my (probably incorrect) few week estimate.
I’m not being combative I’m just curious why our POVs are different here.
This wasn’t creative brilliance but once again I feel if another agency name was attached it would receive less hate. If Vayner did the smart pahk ads it would have gotten torn to shreds bc that idea has been done multiple times and, lets be honest that idea is extremely basic.
I don’t hate it because it’s Vayner. I hate it because it’s terrible.
He gets it
It’s practically doing the fighting itself
My non-ad friends thought it was dumb 🤷♂️
Absolute crap. Good thing they have a new CCO.
I don’t think he’ll be much better
Everyday person thought Mr Peanut dying was interesting. I will give you that. Baby Nut came off as a forced meme and most people don’t seem to care.
