Your Privacy

Welcome to Fishbowl—the best way to stay in the know about companies and professionals in your industry from Fishbowl Media, Inc. (“Fishbowl,” “we,” “us” or “our”). Our mission is to move industries and companies forward by providing a safe space for professionals where they can meet and engage in productive and constructive conversations. Our Service is designed to promote equal economic opportunity for all members to get ahead, by enabling dialogue between professionals across rank and background, so that you and millions of other like-minded professionals can meet, exchange ideas, learn, and make informed career decisions.

This privacy policy explains how we collect, use and disclose information about you when you use our mobile application (the “App”), our Website (the “Site”) and other online products and services that link to this privacy policy (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you consent to our collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as described in this privacy policy.

Through the Service, you can share messages, comments and other content (“Posts”) with certain other users of the Service. You may also send private messages directly to other users (“Messages”).

Collection of Information

Fishbowl verifies all users who register for the Service including, but not limited to, where they work and their role or professional title. Verified users can choose to post and comment using their name and full profile, or semi-anonymously using only identifiers like where they work or their role. Posts made with semi-anonymous identifiers like your company or title are not associated with your public profile and will always remain anonymous (i.e., your public profile will not display published posts or comments).

Information You Provide to Us

We collect information you directly give us. For example, we collect information about you when you sign up for our Service, make a Post, send a Message, give feedback about the Service or otherwise communicate with us.

Registration
When you sign up for our Service, we capture relevant information necessary to verify your professional profile. This may include your work email address, your full name, your mobile phone number, your company, your industry, your professional specialties, your professional role or title, your gender, and your date of birth.

We use your contact information, such as your work email address or phone number, to authenticate your account and keep it - and our services - secure, and to help prevent spam, fraud, and abuse. We also use contact information to personalize our services, enable certain account features (for example, for login verification), and to send you information about our services. If you provide us with your phone number, you agree to receive text messages from Fishbowl to that number as your country’s laws allow. Fishbowl also uses your contact information to market to you as your country’s laws allow, and to help you find and connect with people you know and help others find and connect with you. You can unsubscribe from notifications by opting out or in the case of push notifications revoking consent by updating the settings on your device.

Profile
You have additional choices about the information on your profile, such as your education, previous work experience, skills, photo, and city or area. You don’t have to provide additional information on your profile; however, profile information helps you to get more from our Service, including personalizing group and content recommendations to you, and helping recruiters and business opportunities find you. It’s your choice whether to include additional information on your profile. Posts made with semi-anonymous identifiers like your company or title are not associated with your public profile and will always remain anonymous (i.e., your public profile will not display published posts or comments).

Information We May Collect

We may, with your consent, collect information from your device’s address book. We do this, for example, so that you can share messages with your address book contacts or add contacts to group chats. You can always revoke this consent by changing the settings on your device.

We may ask you to provide and verify your telephone number when you first launch the App. Additionally, this process may be triggered if you want to create a new group, or we suspect improper activity on your account.

We may collect public information about you, such as professional-related skills or accomplishments and make it available as part of our Services.

Additional Information We Receive About You

We receive certain information when you use our Service or other websites that include our content. Like the information you share with us, we use the data below to operate our services.

We log usage data when you visit or otherwise use our Service, including our sites, app and platform technology, such as when you view or click on content, perform a search, install or update one of our mobile apps, share articles or apply for jobs. We use log-ins, cookies, device information and internet protocol (“IP”) addresses to identify and log your use.

Like many websites, we use cookies and similar technologies to collect additional website usage data and to operate our services. Cookies are not required for many parts of our Service such as searching or posting. Although most web browsers automatically accept cookies, many browsers’ settings can be set to decline cookies. However, some of our services may not function properly if you disable cookies. When your browser or device allows it, we use both session cookies and persistent cookies to better understand how you interact with our services, to monitor aggregate usage patterns, and to personalize and otherwise operate our Service such as by providing account security, and personalizing the content we show you. We also get information about your network and device (e.g., IP address, proxy server, operating system, web browser and add-ons, device identifier and features, cookie IDs and/or ISP, or your mobile carrier). If you use our Service from a mobile device, that device will send us data about your location based on your phone settings. We will ask you to opt-in before we use GPS or other tools to identify your precise location.

We may allow third parties to provide analytics services to us. We use these tools to help us improve our Service, performance, and user experiences. The information collected may include unique device identifiers, device manufacturer and operating system, IP address, browser type, session start/stop time, and user activity.

How we use your personal data will depend on which part of the Service you use, how you use those that service and the choices you make in your settings.
