Do your parents know how much you make? I have a good relationship with my parents but after my first promotion I’m tempted to keep my finances to myself from now on
Does anyone know generally how much you should get as a raise per year? I’m in the middle of negotiations with my current company and a new company and my current company says they give raises based around performance and inflation, but information online surrounding my new company discusses low pay and low raises that don’t keep up with it. I’m currently stuck on the option and have to make a decision of where to go by Friday…
I received the news that I will be a partner next year and although it is a great milestone, I feel that I have sold my soul (bc of billing hours, evening and weekend work, understaffed, great compensation, etc. everything that you may expect from a Big Law firm) . Maybe is just the impostor syndrome kicking in but any thoughts or a advice to deal with my first year as a partner? Anybody felt the same way?

How has the chicago residential real estate market been impacted by COVID? Have prices come down (what%)? Best areas to buy?
COVID WFH has put me several time zones away from my client (I’m further west and their culture is to start the day early anyway). It’s a new project so I don’t have relationships built up. How much pushback on morning meetings is reasonable? I know the project can’t operate totally around me but these start times aren’t sustainable...
Dropping this in a few bowls, sorry if you see it twice. I'm transitioning from teaching 8th grade mathematics at a public school to teaching a 7/8 self-contained classroom at a charter school. Any advice for teaching mixed grade levels or multi subject is appreciated: scheduling, classroom setup, subject order, behavior management, etc. I'm struggling to find my rhythm with only 6 weeks before kids return. Thanks to everyone for your commitment and time, enjoy your summer!

Who here has experience using an outside offer to negotiate your pay at Deloitte? I know I’m valued (off cycle raise/retention bonus in addition to market adjustment coming)… but still 30 - 40k underpaid compared to what I’m seeing in the market. I like Deloitte and the work I do so I’d like to try and make it work, but know I need to play hard ball to see action. Would really appreciate advice and or tips for this process!
