Tips for declining but not really declining a project? Think I may have committed career suicide already...

For those of you who moved back in with your parents recently, how are you drawing boundaries? I have had this perpetual breathing issue since I was 8 years old, and I guess when I am trying to breath sometimes I make funny noises. My mom has been on my case to do these breathing exercises, which sometimes I do. I don't think they help but I just do them to get her off my case. Last night it got into a full blown argument, and she went ahead to list out all my 'f* ups.' So help on boundaries?

Do people care enough about consultants to dislike them? I assumed most folks literally wouldn't care at all and just assume its a good but boring office job, but I can't help but notice a trend of older adults (friends' parents, professors, etc) seeming slightly displeased after asking me what I'm doing now that I graduated and hearing tech consulting. Not sure if people don't like consultants, or young consultants, or if they think I'm getting paid more than I am and are resentful or what
