Does anyone have any insight on the firm Husch Blackwell? Specifically their private wealth group.
Is experience in Labor and Employment applicable at all in Executive Comp & Benefits? If not, what are some resources that I can read that gives me a primer on that area of law?
Happy (zoom) Passover for everyone celebrating!
So other than money (which is obviously very important) what’s the incentive to make partner? Is it crazy that I just want to do my work and go home to my amazing family without the added pressure of running a business and managing others? I’m only a third year (in a new practice area) so maybe the thought of being competent enough to ever be a partner just seems unrealistic. 🤷🏼♀️
One of my executives thinks he is being endearing by calling women "Baby" "Gorgeous" "Sweetie" and he calls men "handsome". I have had multiple complaints against him from female employees and vendors. Does anyone know of any good training courses or advice that can help in this scenario?
Based on some of the ominous posts/articles about firms going back to stealth layoffs, should I be weary about lateraling to BigLaw in a non-corporate practice area?
When drafting an MSJ is it better to address the ways that OC might overcome it; or is it better to just generally say why you’re entitled to MSJ and avoid tackling the finer issues that your MSJ presents?
Any thoughts on family law as a practice area? Got offered 110k plus bonuses with low billable hours requirement. I'm in Los Angeles. Not sure if I should get into it as a practice area though as I hear conflicting things. Any thoughts would help. Thanks
Litigators - any tips for preparing questions for depositions/examinations for discovery?
Any strategies or resources you could recommend for getting rid of the dreaded annual performance review (or at least lessening the dread) and creating a more effective year round performance feedback system? Our review is currently tied to our end of year bonuses and merit increases, so not sure I could get rid of it entirely. This would be for hourly and management employees, all working on-site.
Which books would you recommend to a product counel for tech startup about strategy, management, and leadership?
Does this get better or do we just hate our lives (and not have lives) until we leave the legal field altogether? Wondering if academia is better…
Firm announced flexible come and go as you see fit approach to coming back to office. Partner I work for said I need to be in office 4-5 days a week anyway. Thoughts?
I have worked in the HR space for the past 9 years, however most of my experience has been in Talent Acquisition. I do want to move into a People Operations/Generalist role. I’m planning to go for a HR certificate but unsure if I should go for a PHR or SHRM. Please advise!
What is salary range for experienced Tax MD from Big 4 at mid-tier firm like BDO? Anyone made the move? Regrets? Recommendations? advice for offer negotiations?
If I give notice on a holiday week, would the 4 day work week count as a full week for the 2 weeks notice?
Is it normal for people to take a gap year or 6 months to travel in between your first consulting job and your exit opportunity? I’m worried that I’ll never really have time to travel or backpack like I always wanted to without sacrificing my career. Just wondering if anyone has advice or experience with traveling while still advancing their career?

Is anyone else afraid to take PTO? I never thought twice about it until some SMS were telling me so many people don't use their PTO out of fear of looking bad....
EY is hiring on the West Coast! Our financial services consulting practice (FSO) is actively building out our BCM, Digital Asset, and Fintech capabilities and are hiring across all roles, business and technology. We have an awesome team on the west and are building something great. Please DM if interested - if you have any interest in the Digital Asset/crypto space, this is a great opportunity!
Not currently in BigLaw but looking to lateral to a remote securities/cap markets position (live in a secondary market) from a boutique. Non-traditional older associate, billed 2000 hours last year and received a 2.5% raise and $1,000 bonus (other associates received $20k). Performance was not terrible, but less supervision so definitely made mistakes. Now finding out I am undervalued after getting interest from firms in the range of 50-60% more than my current salary. Anyone hiring?
My fiancé owns a business and is a workaholic so we barely ever take vacations because he’s always working and says he can’t take time off. I’m a great place in my career to get some traveling in but I can never get him to take time off to go. We can always make more money but we only have so much time. How can I convince him to just take the time off?
1.5 years of MBB consulting, and another 2 years of Deloitte consulting. Getting an offer for a manager at a large startup in Toronto. Offer is $110k plus 20% bonus (no equity). Really cool role but
Suggestions for 1 week vacation. Designate 2 days for travel so really 5 days to explore wherever I'll be. Would like to go to a different country... looking for part adventure / culture. Thanks 😬
I often find my work cut down by partners. The part that gets cut down normally is what I consider to be the best part - the part that would change one's mind or one that would answer a question in client's mind. Does that mean I need to improve my writing? Or would I become a plain vanilla by "improving"? A quote comes to mind - all good writers write alike, but all great writers write differently. I don't claim to be a great writer, but wouldn't want to undermine the potential.
San Diego or Huntington Beach for vacay? Just wanna relax and have an activity or two to do
How much money should you make to raise 1 kid in Manhattan? Some factors: public school, 2 or 3 bedroom apartment
About to go on a flight tomorrow but our toddler has a slight runny/congested nose and some sneezing. Hoping it passes but how do I get in touch with American Airlines to potentially change my flight in the case that he is actually sick? Flight is tomorrow but current ETA for a call back is Weds. They should be able to issue credits or change the flight days after we no-show? Also I’m guessing the airline will not allow us to get on the plane given these symptoms even if he wears a mask?
Has anyone taken a job with the US government? Serious replies please. I’m striving for a job that enables me to leave my work at work, but still pay me a reasonable salary and provides benefits

Question for anyone here who works for ZS Associates in the Chicago/Evanston offices - what’s the typical annual salary, hike and bonus structure for an associate consultant in the business technology function? Got an offer recently and trying to check if it’s a good deal. I’d appreciate any inputs on this!
Legacy OTS here, I still can’t name one advantage from a personal level that I got out of this whole integration with Parthenon. Basically I didn’t get a raise, I can’t apply to any rotation program due to my level, there’s immense confusion, don’t work with my “new” legacy P colleagues who think they are better than us. How was your experience, Thoughts?
Can anyone from ZS please help me get a recruiter’s email? Applied for a position in Chicago 3 weeks ago and haven’t heard back yet ZS Associates
