My team has made tremendous efforts during the pandemic to ensure the safety of all facilities and people in our region as we resume in-office activity. Predicated on confidentiality, my colleague went to HR with negative feedback re a specific leader’s flexibility with the *mandatory* PPE protocol. The HR Manager went directly to the leader and gave the feedback along w my colleagues name. Since that day she’s been heavily “taxed.” HR has a responsibility to protect anonymity. How to handle?
For those of you who like me experience a complete lack of mentorship from partners in your PG who are also just overall toxic and demeaning no matter what you do, what do u do? Go to HR? PGL? Mentor?
Has anyone had a request to terminate an employee after they returned from a leave of absence? What was your experience like?
Looking for learning recommendations (CLEs, books, videos, websites etc.) that would help a first year/young associate. Looking for either content that will help give you tips that are helpful as a whole or more specifically substantive info for a plaintiff’s personal injury attorney. Most stuff I find is for experiences trial attorneys and I’d love to learn more substantively the ins and outs on the work up of the case. Thanks!!
I’m studying for the Texas bar using Barbri. I am from a good school in the state (T50) and performed well there, but I am terrified that I am going to fail the bar. Any tips, tricks, advice on how you made it through? Is Barbri enough?
Received reply in other thread in response to concerns about the effect my work was having on mental health (have GAD/clinical depression). Thoughts? Discouraged about my longevity in this field...
Is anyone looking for a trial tech?? I have a great company I’d love to recommend! They do trial technology, help with voir dire, help with case strategy, and do all video editing!
Looking for some advice here. I am starting a tax llm program at a top ranked program but don’t have a background in tax or business. What are my chances of being hired at a good place? I am not T14 not even close but did pretty well in law school. I’m so nervous right now. TIA.
At law firms that restrict their lawyers’ personal securities trading, how are those policies enforced?
I'm in securities law and I'm joining a investment firms regulatory solutions group. Is that too compliance or do you think I'm still going to have enough prestige.
It just happens that this week I spent a fair amount of time negotiating with clients/potential clients on legal fees - and it is exhausting. I am less than 2 years in private practice...
I don’t understand why partners and clients get so angry and pissy if you ask them a question (and I’m not talking like lots of piecemeal questions). I know you’re busy and you’re paying me to solve your problems but I also need information from you to do my job...
Are there any downsides to engaging with recruiters just to see what else is out there? Very happy at my firm, but the potential of an additional $60K/yr (minimum) is hard to ignore.
Would you all consider the people you work with friends? Or it strictly just professional. Have a hard time navigating this and how much I should reveal about myself to others
What do you recommend for an aspiring lawyer — attend a lower T14 or a T20? I’d graduate with 230K and 170K, respectively. I am a BigLaw para and am fine with returning to pay off debt.
Is the case law you’re looking for ever on page 9 of your westlaw search results? At what page is it safe to give up?
Any good deals on student loan refi right now? I have SoFi now for a few years. Just took a paycut so looking to tighten the belt if I can.
On the topic of SERP describing the runway opinion as absolutely no college, stay trafficked, I've included a list of orgs I am starting to work with for bridge advocacy. Can anyone think of others?

I think I saw a post on this a while ago, but can't seem to find it. Have you guys ever bypassed Dnet to get latest phones (not on DNET yet) and claim it against the $250 reimbursement?
Coming from biglaw, is $130k starting salary at a boutique transactional firm okay? Ripoff? Generous?
Anyone ever heard of Vizient? Their website says they are “nation’s largest member-driven health care performance improvement company” so I don’t really understand what they do and how they make money. I don’t think they actually do consulting, but more like a company that hospitals sign up to be members where hospitals can get cheaper and better pricing on equipments. Is Vizient considered a “product company” on this pic below?
I signed the offer from a big 4 firm but was recently approached by another recruiter for a role I really like and their total comp is higher. Should I go ahead with the interview?
What are hot skills in the market today? How valuable is getting ServiceNow experience while in consulting (in terms of exit opps)?
Yikes. "Starwood said hackers were able to see debit and credit card information..." http://bigstory.ap.org/article/1a407af151984a509da82ea0bf4060f7/starwood-warns-data-breach-54-its-hotels
Say I go into fidelity and put 401k contribution at 100%. Will it just stop my contribution at my max for the year? Assume I’ve already put in 5k
What’s appropriate/creative to say if a recruiter asks what makes you want to move from one big 4 to another?
Got laid off on Monday... are there any reasons why I should not go on unemployment? I have enough cash to cover myself and not sure of the downsides
Working remote this month. I was planning on visiting family in Vancouver for a few days next week, does anyone know if it's against policy to continue to work remote? Would rather not use PTO...
Havas Health + (Plus) (NYC-based) has many openings, across depts and levels. Reply or dm if you’re interested. Thanks
I hate when people use the word ‘Content’. It’s lazy. What are you referring to? A website overhaul? Better emails? A better presence in Social Media. Be specific. It’s like saying ‘You need Creative’
Does it make sense to make a lateral move from a Big 4 Advisory position as a Manager to a small (less than 100 person) boutique management consulting firm? Compensation and title are both the same but WLB will be much better at smaller firm (talked with current and former employees) and opportunities to advance in the company could be great as they are looking to grow rapidly. Base compensation overall is $170K in a T3 city. Recruiter wants to set up an interview.
