The only thing prestigious about big law is the money. They do not train you to become a good lawyer. They train you to become another cog in the wheel. Do as you’re told and only that. Never think too far ahead. Do all the work and let the partner take credit but also get your reputation up so you can attract your own clients… My days here are numbered. That coupled with 6 years who have never handled an oral argument? Insanity….

For those of you with student loans, has your strategy changed now that mortgage rates are increasing? I have $230k in federal loans. First year here… a few months in and I still feel like I’m still consistently out of reach of really understanding the legal issues in some of my more complex cases. This equals me feeling stupid whenever I am asked to research an issue and my conclusion is basically wrong or lacks nuance—normal for a newbie or am I messing up here?
