How does it feel to earn less than US Consultants while also struggling for utilization

I was recently promoted to a new position at my company. I'm so excited to be taking on this new challenge, but it's not going as well as I had hoped.

I've been given a lot of responsibilities, which is great. But I don't feel like any of them are being prioritized or delegated appropriately. I'm getting a lot of pressure from my manager, who is quite demanding and doesn't seem to understand that I need time to get things done and learn new skills.

I applied to a biglaw firm directly and have gone through five rounds of interviews which included eight attorneys and three supervisors. I even met with the managing partner for the practice group. Then it all stalled just prior to the thanksgiving holiday weekend. Two communications later, the decision makers are still out on vacation, I’m being told. However, my gut tells me something that I worked so hard for is slipping from my hands, if it hasn’t already.

I am wondering how do you answer to "Why do you want to join company XYZ?" in a situation when you are approached by a headhunter and it is relatively small and unknown company? My answer would be, "you approached me so you tell me why I should want to join your company" but not sure they would appreciate it :D And of course I am talking about Interview 1 or pre-screening call with the headhunter, not the final interview round for which I would set up a time to prepare the answer
