It would be beneficial to you if you did. They can be a source of useful information and contacts. My district in OK requires us to go, but I don’t think AP requires it. I have been to many over the last 40 years and found most of them very helpful.
I would immediately find and attend an AP Summer institute (APSI). You can find the information on the college board's website.
They are not cheap, but worth every penny.
The requirements from CB to teach AP are minimal, your district should have more rigorous rules; hopefully.
I would recommend it, do anyone myself this summer. I've taught the content before but not at the AP level. Looking forward to the depth of understanding that they want the students to get in this course.
No. But you do have to pass the AP audit to be qualified.
Depending on the subject, you can accept to use an audit that is already approved. This is the case now with AP Calculus AB and BC.
You have to attend sn APSI to teach Research or Seminar ( the Capstone classes).
