For dads, m company only offers 2 weeks parental leave. I found out in my state I can get up to 3 additional months through paid family leave! So check out your state benefits! That extra time at home those first few months feels huge. Other parents, are there any other benefits I should be aware of when having a kid? Or any tips maintaining a career with newborn?

Thanks for all the advice, I will definitely put in effort with the wife. It’s so easy to enjoy each other right now and I can see with more responsibilities, free time may not come as naturally. Ready for the adventure though!

I wish I'd known that when mine were young. I got 3 weeks paid and thought that was a great deal. As far as general parenting advice goes, start a college fund immediately and take advantage of any programs your state might have to offer when doing so. Also, find time for at least one date night per month (after the first month or two when baby can hang with grandparents for a few hours at a time without issue). That first year is hell on your marriage, and you've got to put in conscious effort to maintain your bond as you navigate it together.
