I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, parents should know what is going on in their child’s classroom. Recordings can provide an accurate record of incidents if they are needed. No one should be doing anything that they wouldn’t want parents and admin to see anyway, so maybe it would improve some people’s professional performance. On the other hand, I worry about student privacy. We have some kids with significant struggles emotionally and behaviorally. Uneducated people might form unfair opinions about these children leading to these kids being socially excluded from play dates and parties and other opportunities based on their judgements. So I don’t know which is better- cameras or no cameras?
Cameras could potentially deter bullying or other classroom incidents. If an incident does occur, footage could be reviewed to investigate what happened. This can be helpful for both protecting students and staff.

I agree that cameras could deter bullying. I hate the way bullies get by with it, especially if they are athletes or have "connections" among the higher-ups in the building. Maybe knowing they were on camera would curb some of the ways students behave?
I get the need for cameras but if everyone did better and let us teachers just do our jobs the way we need to, things would get better! I already struggle with cameras and our privacy. If things keep up, we will be just like China. Cameras around watching our every, single, move. Makes my skin crawl thinking about it.
People getting paid minimum wage are watching and interacting with your child for hours. Daycare ages children do not have the sense or words to tell what happens to them.
I don’t know a more stressful situation in the crazy world we are in if you can’t raise your kids from home.
Cameras need to be everywhere.
Public school it’s more for the teachers safety then the kids I would have cameras in the room easily I have nothing to hide, you can walk into my room anytime. Let people see how students treat them peers and their teachers.
I don't really feel like I need them in my classroom nor would *I really want them but I do know there are schools that definitely need them.. I am fortunate that my classroom has always been a very safe space.
