I've been in my current role for less than 90 days and I'm miserable. I plan to start looking ASAP but how do I explain to other companies why I'm leaving so soon? Also, if I leave it off my resume they'll wonder what I've been doing for 3 months. Please help. I'm losing my mind. Sidenote: I was hired with 2 other women and they quit after 6 weeks.

If the gap comes up you can explain that you had a position briefly that turned out to be much different than what was agreed upon and everyone hired same time as you exited quickly to find a better fit.

Only time you might have to disclose it is if you end up in a heavily regulated industry (bank, trading firm etc). Sometimes their background check process will require detailed and accurate info on everyone you worked for over the last 7-10 years.

I don't think you'd have to worry about anyone asking about an employment gap of only 3 months. A lot of people are spending way longer on the job market. So I would probably just leave it off your resume and suggest that you've been looking for a GOOD role for that time. That's not a complete lie, just a stretch.

OP honestly you could probably just leave it off your resume if you wanted to. I have done that before when I didn't stay at a job very long. I just left it off and said the small gap was when I was looking for a new job after being laid off. Definitely start looking for something else in the mean time because its taking a long time to get hired right now.

I’d just not list your current job on your resume.

I just wanted to post an update. I decided to hold off on leaving and have now been at my job a little over 90 days. Since posting, my direct manager has announced her departure so that will be 4 people gone since I have started. I am now very unsure on how the structuring within the department will be and more importantly I am unsure on my career development so I will definitely be leaving. Has anyone here quit without a back up? Tell me something positive.

Not listing the job may not go well because when you get an offer, you’re going to also get a background check, and the job is going to come up

I haven't made a final decision yet but if I decide to apply for the federal position I saw recently I will list it.
