Chief
SWE / data science - typically these roles are calibrated for individual contributors, and asocial behavior is more the norm and more tolerated (though don’t get me wrong, it can still be unpleasant for all concerned).
Plus, specializing in those tracks, particularly in specific deep learning or engineering platforms, can lead to very good compensation (though this is typically time-limited as those skills diffuse - think about the countless Tensorflow developers easily doing things only the most advanced minds could accomplish 5 years ago).
This. Couldn’t have said it better. That assumes you’re interested in the subject matter though.
Up to you if you want to change careers but I’d hate to see you convince yourself of any perceived short comings.
There’s plenty of introverts in business, it’s just about learning about yourself and being willing to be yourself. In most jobs, you have to deal with people so there’s really no avoiding it. Get the book “How to make friends and influence people.” This book can teach you ways as an introvert to build your soft skills in business.
+1 for How to Win Friends & Influence People. It’s a classic and so relevant even today.

Going on 2YOE and my current train of thought is very similar. The sales / high stakes meetings of consulting are not for me.
Looking for the most expedient way to double down on data analytics / begin learning SWE
