Yes it is possible. Once you are shortlisted for a role, then you resign in EY India (basis the offer that you got in GDS). Joining will only be 1st of the month. There will not be any compensation change during joining GDS, Rank will be as per GDS Ranks.
There are lots of other nuances on Gratuity etc.
Can I apply for GDS while I stay in EY India and once I get an offer I resign, serve the np in Indian entity and then join GDS . Is it possible??

Yes. I think it is easy to be transferred to GDS.
Dont know personally. Massive hiring happening in GDS. Hence from India practice many transfers.
