Thoughts on moving offices as a new senior from a big market to smaller? Are there significantly different implications on your career (experiences or compensation)? How is the process?
Can someone PLEASE share me what their day to day job is like in private? Hours, work life balance, salary range. Ranging from fpa to accounts payable. I think working in PA is fundementally changing me as a person. I'm overworked, stressed out, overwhelmed, and generally am not happy. I wasn't always like this 😭😭😭
Was unsuccessful recruiting for top consulting firms during my MBA. I need that money! What is the best approach to landing an interview post MBA? Referral?
How long do you typically allow for self assessments and manager assessments for year-end? This year we gave employees a week and managers 3 weeks (holidays not included), but they still said it wasn’t long enough even though most waited until the very last day to complete them.
When is it ok to ask about the salary range when talking to recruiters? I do want to waste my time with interviews if he salary is not there.
Has anyone been offered equity to join a company and then that part of the offer to be rescinded after you’ve already joined? Is this legal?
I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.
Come get me Ernst & Young, what’s up with all the merry go round conversations. Had great conversations with leaders, but left in the cold. Don’t know how to chase anyone. You want me come get me EY
What is Boston Consulting Group base salary for Principal/Partner level (Chicago), and other comp details if available (bonus range, profit share, etc)?
Any Deloitte folks in Salesforce looking for a manager? I may exit out of consulting entirely/have an opp but figure I should talk to you 1st. On the bench. Burner: firstname.lastname@example.org
Do any big 4 or MBB firms do brand consulting?
Man, i just found out i have a leak in my house water mainline. I am shocked to see the estimated cost. $1100. That will be the highest repair cost that i have to face. Man owning home can incurre lot of repairment cost. There goes my vacation budget in a drain.
Currently in audit, looking to do tax returns for friends and family on the side to make a little extra money. Two questions: 1) would the firm have a problem with this if it doesn’t interfere with my work? I assume no since the firm probably isn’t interested in filing my brother’s return (he is a union electrician). 2) I have no experience in tax (I don’t even do my own return), so is there a good software to use for this or what is the best way to learn how to do tax returns?
Just got an offer as a Data Analytics Solution Consultant (remote) in Deloitte GPS USDC. The base pay is 10K higher, and it is probably good for my resume. However, I was looking to expand my data analytics skills, and they gave an impression that my work will mostly just be fraud detection and boring tasks. Should I reject it if my goal is to expand my skillsets? Also, is the work life balance bad for USDC too? I am seeing all the horror stoires
anyone here jump to industry and end up not liking the role? what did you do? how did leaving to join industry effect your career? what are some things that you wish you knew/considered before taking the money?
I’m 24 with already 55k saved up in retirement (between 401k and Roth IRA) and currently contributing $18k yearly. I’m not near the 401k max yearly contribution and have some extra money I can contribute. Do you recommend I up my 401k contribution or open a brokerage account and invest there? Not trying to tie too money into retirement. Emergency fund is taken care of.
When your 3 year old looks at your belly and asks is there a baby in there. Time for this guy to diet/gym
I really want to work for MBB but don’t have an MBA. And no interest in pursuing one. 10+ years in the management consulting space at B4. Do I have a shot?
What’s happening internally after the final round of interviews and before an offer gets extended? And how long does it usually take?
The headlines for Trump's Axiom interview are hilarious. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/this-is-the-cognitive-test-trump-didnt-pass-internet-reacts-to-presidents-shocking-axios-interview-2020-08-04
I just started as a first year associate at a firm that does not have any organized pro bono, however there is an “uncapped” billable hours policy that would allow me to apply pro bono to my hours requirement. How would you suggest I go about getting into pro bono work? It’s my understanding it’s not done much at my firm.
Android 🐠 - recs on the best smart watch (time, activity tracker, and checking texts, etc)? Bonus if it looks sleek. I know the Apple watch is the best but buying a gift for an Android loyalist.
Paid off my loans/credit card debt. I barely have any savings. Is the next move to shoot for a 6 month safety fund or to max out my 401k?
Waiting for visa transfer approval so I can finally notify my team about leaving… feeling guilty as I have unique experience with the client and the team lead (who I have good relationship with) is still expecting to have me for long. I know its kinda irrational and at the end of the day its all business but just wanna share 😔
How does paying back a signing bonus work? Do banks really expect you to pay back the untaxed amount?
Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
Never fully understood all the hype about Big 4 consulting before joining a Big 4 firm. I still don't after nearly 5 years in. Lookin' to bail. What does everyone else wish they were doing instead?
You know who the real consultants are? Gate agents. “Will this delayed flight ever leave?” "Oh you know, I’d like to say yes, but could be no, I guess it really depends.”
Feeling sorry about all the lay-offs happening. Nonetheless some firms are hiring! E.g. My firm is actually hiring a couple of associates and had 2 starting today. Who found a job since COVID started?
