I support voting rights and think the laws passed in GA are embarrassing. I doubt they will stand either - there will be protests and law suits at the next election. And DOJ is already investigating.
Could GA based companies put more pressure? I don’t think any of us know what they did, if they did anything, so it’s hard to say. You can’t really bluff here. Coke can’t get up and move on a dime but there are other things they maybe able to do. I doubt much of that will be done in the open - that’s not how those conversations happen.
If you’re asking could we put pressure by dropping those clients? I’m not sure how that would make sense. They are not the ones who created and passed this legislature.
We can have our PACs not contribute towards these politicians but that’s frankly not that much money since most firms don’t focus their contributions on states. We can stop holding events there but we can’t do that now anyway.
Ultimately, the best answer here is for the people of GA to stop electing people like this to govern them.
M1 I came on to make similar comments ! I’m from GA and have been horrified by the media interpretation of the bill so sat and read through the entire thing today - yes it has its flaws - but it’s not this voter suppression bill people are making it out to be...
I think those who stay quiet will be morally complicit forever. In the senate, Romney looks like history will judge him well. His GOP colleagues? Not so much.

I’m Australian citizen working in US as permanent resident. Aus does have aggressive voter outreach, registration, high voting by mail snd though I think lot of top countries with voting records do have the smaller population. I’m in favor of universal voting rights and I support checks and balances (ie identification). Both EU, Australia have severe checks on mail voting one has to bonafide it prior sending to authorities directly. the harvesting, couriering by somebody else is questionable aspect
Yes, The authorities presses strongly upon one to vote or there is fine with legit reasons. The postal voting controls are quite stringent and robust, postal vote is only send to entolled address. And there is witness needed for those.
