Peri bottle and underwear should be provided by the hospital but I did like period parties for the first few weeks at home.
If you’re going to labor at all before epidural or going without one I’d highly recommend a birthing comb, it saved me during my 3rd birth.
Other than that just remember to ask for extra ice packs and heat packs when you’re getting discharged so you have plenty at home.
I had a c-section and nursed/pumped, and I made sure to do some comfy kindred bravely nursing pajamas, Frida brand postpartum diapers, and the silverettes nipple cups.
Thanks!
Chapstick/lip balm. I forget who told me this (probably a birthing class) but it was a godsend.
My favorite addition to my hospital bag was an eye mask — I’m not an eye mask person regularly but it made sleeping at odd hours with hospital lights so much better.
Yes this!!!! And noise cancelling headphones. I am also bringing my pillow because: hospital pillows.
I'm 1 week PP and here's my list:
Hospital:
- Favorite home cooked meal stored in hospital fridge
- Diluted lemonade
- Eye mask
- Headphones
- Birthing gown
- Ask nurse for extra ice pads + witch hazel + a perineal bottle
Home:
- PP belly wrap
- Pads
- New & comfy granny panty underwear
- Nursing bras (I like momcozy)
- Nursing gowns
- Frida supplies (extra ice pads and witch hazel foam)
- Ibuprofen & tylenol & stool softener / laxative
Thank you!!
I got a gown for the hospital with buttons on both sides and I loved it for both the birth and after
Ekouaer Labor and Delivery gown on Amazon. I also like their nursing gowns.
I got the Frida postpartum kit for #2 and I liked feeling a bit better in “fancier” disposable underwear, a nicer peri bottle, and a place to put everything neatly.
The angled peri bottle from that kit is a game changer. My midwife recommended putting a few drops of tea tree oil and a few drops of calendula oil in the peri bottle to help with healing and pain.
I also had a sitz bath spray from Earth Mama that I really liked. That and the witch hazel foam from the Frida kit were my favorites.
