I find it hard to keep it together at school. I was in an abusive relationship that finally lead me to emptiness and emotional trying times. I keep things bottled up about school and home.
Do any of your schools have was to honor/memorialize students who you have lost to violence or accidents or disease?
Learn more about compassion fatigue it really helps you stay regulated as the adult in these relationships with students coming from toxic environments.

I have a 3rd grade student who has been extremely disrespectful and defiant. I’m at my wits end... she says “no” or “why should I?” to everything she is asked to do and has a terrible attitude. Help!
Hi fellow teachers! Another great resource for trauma informed teaching is Dr. Nadine Burk- Harris’ documentary Resilience. She also has a shorter Ted talk summarizing her main points. She is amazing
Our staff just finished a book study on this book. It really helps you to understand the impact of trauma on the human brain. It also gives strategies to use in your class.
I highly recommend this book for those of you looking to learn more about trauma informed teaching. There are many great strategies presented in it
