End of day only a manager wins. So there is no point in escalating! Its not worth your time and peace to take things forward.
Correct.
1. Have solid documented evidence. That's number one.
2. Check internally for the employee relations email id. Write a calm, factual email. No emotional outburst. Do not accuse your manager. Frame it as something that doesn't align with the company values.
3. Behave absolutely normally with your manager. Complaints to employee relations are anonymous (supposed to be anonymous).
Supposed to be, but it is not always. My recommendation is to look for another job. Favouritism plays a large role in recognition and promotion. Lots of incompetent people are in higher positions.
