What are some useful goals for a Senior Consultant looking to get ready for a Manager role? My Coach doesn’t have much interest in my development and I’m in the process of looking for a new one, but meanwhile I’m working on building my own list of skills I need to work to become a good manager. What does a brilliant Engagement Manager look like? Any thoughts are much appreciated!
Uncle D hit me up, what’s a “Senior Analyst” at Deloitte’s Global Cybersecurity (Deloitte Global GTS) ? Is that a Consultant or a Senior Consultant position? Or is it based on my interview? How much should I ask for?
Looking to jump over to Capcos Capital Markets division as a senior consultant and will soon be discussing salary expectations with the hiring manager. I’ll be asking for 125-130k. Is this a reasonable range? I have 3.5 YOE and a Masters in Finance.
I left as a C 6 months ago to industry for a promotion . Just had a recruiter ping me about a SC position in a different area. Would it be possible to boomerang as a SC?
Trying to get into energy/sustainability consulting—no direct experience in the topic besides my undergrad degree, but 3-4YOE in consulting/client-facing roles and am super interested in that sector. Any ideas on firms to target? Ideally would be about an SC-level role
Is anyone familiar with Deloitte's US Internal Strategy practice and willing to connect? I plan to apply to their Senior Consultant position and was hoping to connect with someone in this segment ahead of my application. Thanks!
Finding it very difficult identifying an exit opportunity into industry(preferably tech) from a generalist cyber security path. Have done resilience, cyber policy, privacy, IAM, data protection, etc and am a high performer that manages projects as the acting manager, although a SC. However, I can’t identify a fast ball to cater it to roles in the industry. Anyone have tips that you can share on how to choose roles to apply for? Any inputs will be much appreciated!
Thoughts on making a move as a Exp SC or waiting until likely Manager promo at YE 2021? Non b4 advisory role with bulk of exp in Internal Audit and SOX. Have tried to get staffed on more diverse projects with little success over the last 4y. Pretty disheartened with current trajectory and project work. Any advice appreciated.
You guys are great, but consulting might not be for me so I’m considering yeeting out. My question: as a staff-level consultant, how much would it help me to wait until I am promoted to senior consultant before leaving? Im going to start a business but if it fails I want to have a decent resume to hop into another role. I’m fresh out of college and I have literally no idea what I’m doing. Thanks all. Insults not appreciated, I am a delicate flower.
SC at ~ 180K TC. I recently got an offer from my current client for a VP role (they had pitched other roles and I declined due to the comp difference not being high enough). They came back a few months later with a 450K TC VP offer that really surprised me... While this seems like an obvious move, the client is really shitty and fairly small (~1B in rev). Am I crazy for thinking of turning this down? My GF and I combined make about 400K so it’s incrementally not that much to us.
New manager at a Big 4, but I’ve been a consulting manager for a while. An SC on the team said they “refuse” to report to me because I’m new. Our partner told me to get this SC in line and that I have his full support- but he apparently never told her I was coming to join the team to manage her😬. How do I set this SC straight without totally squashing her spirits? For context, she wants to take on more management role and be my “peer” but she’s a brand new SC...she’s not close to being ready.
SC with 6 YOE. Is it realistic to aim for an exit opportunity to big pharma at SM/AD roles? Appreciate any insights.
So I’m a second year consultant. Like most, I was disappointed with compensation this year and am pretty bearish on my future earning potential here. I’m currently interviewing with a big tech company (not FAANG but close) for a position with substantially higher pay as a business analyst. I really wanted to stay til SC/M but the money is too good to pass up. I guess my question is: are there any major downsides to exiting to industry “too early?” Has anyone done it and regretted it?
I’ve been in my role as a SC for the better part of 3 years, watching my peers and even some more recent hires make the jump to Manager. I have lots of quality experience as an Engagement Manager, and I have a very in demand skill set for my area. I’ve even taken over the role of a previous EM (billing at a band above me) while still billing as an SC for most of 2020. My manager’s feedback is to manage up better in order to improve my visibility and boost my promotion app - thoughts on this?
What is a expected time in role for a high performing Senior Consultant to make it to Manager at your company?
Any firms hiring in the Denver area? Happy to share my resume via DM. I'm looking for a senior consultant or managerial level position. My goal job is health care strategy/business process improvement work, but I'm flexible and will go where there's a need.
Best way to answer salary range question trom third party recruiter when you dont have a ton of info? Was going to go with "since am being promoted to senior consultant effective Oct 1st, I would expect something competitive with my new role and the experience l'd be bringing
Need advice, currently a SC with Promo next year at D. Potential opportunity for a Sr Analyst role at McK. Not sure about the pay but is this a step down?
For those who interview what do y’all look for in your interviewees? I feel like when I ever interview for a technical role they’re looking for skills and experience first. But when I interview for a S&O/ functional role they’re looking for more fit, personality, and culture? Though i’m just at the SC level I’m probably wrong.
Someone I know applied for an SC position with a fake resume. Literally no IT experience. Apparently recruiter bought it and scheduled a second round with a PPMD. I can't accept the fact that our colleagues are getting laid off and yet people like these get an opportunity to join the firm. Any thoughts?
I’m an experienced hire SC and a PPMD just staffed me on a staff aug role that I don’t want to do instead of staffing me on one that used my unique skill set. Feeling super sad going into another staff aug for 1+ yr not doing what I want to when I have 5+ YOE. Any words of encouragement? I just joined the firm...
Currently a senior consultant with 5 YOE in consulting, and I’m interested in joining a start up or mid-sized company with a focus on strategic growth and innovation, what are appropriate exit opportunity roles to look into?
Anyone here have the skinny on SBI (Sales Benchmark Index)? Being recruited for a Senior Consultant role. Curious to know pay, benefits, type of projects etc. It’s a permanent remote role (with travel to client site), meaning I can live wherever...which is quite intriguing to me. TIL.
Anyone work in San Diego willing to help a B4 senior consultant out with a referral? Have lots of implementation, biz analyst and managerial background. Really want to move to SD
Best long term career path for growth/TC? 1) stay at D and rise through the ranks, 2) lateral to another B4/consulting firm for immediate pay bump, 3) exit to industry? 3.5 YOE and up for SC promo
Am I the only one that has been stuck in an entry level role for a long time (been here for 2 years and misaligned)? I feel like I am already doing Senior Consultant work, but still stuck in entry.
First year SC and interviewing for an M position at another firm. I’ve spent 20 hours prepping for the case interview so far. I feel like that alone means I’m not qualified for the role. (Cont.)
Have been interviewing for a SC position with two firms. My preference between the two is a Big 4, and I may or may not have another round to go (or may be pending an offer), but given the virus (ctd)
Final round of interviews with Deloitte's Cloud Strategy group this Friday. Any tips on what to expect? Interviewing for SC position. TIA.
Is it common to have a follow up interview after the Super Day at Big 4. I had 5 people interview me on Super Day and now they want me to meet one of their Senior Mgr. SC position for TAS practice CTD
How long would it take to hear back from recruiter after having Interview Super Day on a Friday. Interviewed with one of the Big 4 for a SC position— TAS practice.
Deloitte🐟 Applying for a SC role in Next Generation Services with 5 YOE that’s a great match with my proven experience. Would love a referral please and happy to chat about my exp. + show some work☺️ 🙏🏽
Does this move make sense? Now: C, will be promoted to SC next year Move to MBB after promotion as a post-MBA level role Move back to D as an M This is assuming I don't get promoted at MBB...
Can anyone refer me into a sales role at a software company? Three years of technical skills and I have always possessed strong social/communication skills. I think it’s finally time to take a leap...
What is the role of the ECD at agencies and why do we need it? Maybe our company’s ecd sucks but I’m struggling to find value that role offers working teams.
How can you work in consulting if you want to take pride in your work? My senior manager just told me that the key to success in my current role is emotionally detaching from my work so that I don't care when my controlling client insists I do something absolutely stupid that I wholeheartedly disagree with. How can anyone truly enjoy being a professional pushover??
What is a tax reporting administrator and is that a pay grade lower than associate? Reasonably is there any possibility for promotion from such role to another?
Hey Fish! Revery, a boutique agency/production co in Portland is hiring for a new Sr Creative Producer. Check out our site at revery.is and message me if you’re interested!
If money was not important but you had to work in advertising. What position would you really want.
Would you look down at someone’s resume if they left a job after only 4 months? Left for a role in industry but just got another offer which would be another promotion and big pay increase.
I feel like my coworkers and my boss dont trust me. Everytime im given an ownership to something, someone else takes it over. Everytime I give an opinion, people doubt me eventhough many times a different person bring up the same exact thing I say and everybodys on board. Everytime there is an opportunity to lead, my boss always assigns it to everybody in my position but me. I feel down, like is something wrong with me? What can I do?
Need some info: I'm looking for a new position and came across an opportunity at a media+creative agency as an Account Director. What're the main changes I can expect if I was to pivot from a purely creative agency in account management to a media+creative agency within the same dept? I'm going in for first interview soon and wanted to try to learn what I can in the interim.
Okay to reach out to a Partner you do not know personally for a recommendation after the hiring manager mentioned he was his boss in their previous jobs?
Looking for a director-level social/digital strategy role in NYC. Plenty of experience at big agencies, big brands etc. Anybody know of anything?
If I am currently at a fund administrator and want to get into front office of a fund/IB, what’s the best possible route for me? I am currently pursuing my Masters of finance and graduated from a non-target school with my undergrad in Finance. I have only been in the field for 2 years, bur my main goal is to get into more of an IB role.
I left auditing for an accounting manager role. My company is in the medical device space and, in working on monthly close tasks, I notice that some sales people do very well. I know sales is more commission heavy, but part of me still thinks about the “what if” I was able to switch. In getting to know some salespeople, they seem to come from all types of backgrounds, from business to public health. I have limited knowledge in the medical space, but I’m willing to learn. Any advice? Drop it?
Offer to lateral to Bain but would only want to use to join Bain Capital no further interest in consulting, any exit opps between the two firms or better to just target IB?

Is there an MBA hiring freeze at Amazon, BCG, Bain, and McKinsey this year? I’ve heard so from my classmates in my MBA program and we’re concerned about 2021 opportunities when we graduate.
Okay MBB, serious talk. What do you do in your Sustainability Consulting? What sort of candidates are recruited?

Does anyone know how much aws advisory consultants have to travel or get paid? A general range is fine. Or what the work load and environment look like? I was considering leaving consulting and going industry as an internal role in a big tech company or something to have more WLB but then this possible opportunity came up for aws consulting.I could maybe stay in consulting for another year or two if pay is good and the work doesn’t kill me.
Most of us would agree that it has been a tormenting year thus far and with vaccinations in sight, has anyone made travel plans outside the country? What would be your next destination and when? I’m sure we all could use a nice vacation.

Have 31k in a Roth IRA currently and 60k in a 401k. Thinking of taking advantage of the CARES Act fee waiver. Thoughts on withdrawing the full 31k and investing it in ETFs? That way it's accessible if I ever do need it before turning 60?

My home office is NY but I live in NJ and I’m filing taxes in multiple states that I worked in this year. On my W2 federal wages are the same as NY state wages, how do I track down my New York w2 wages without access to my detailed timesheets? Can I just subtract my total wages from the state wages from my W2 of the other states I’ve worked in?
