What % of salary does everyone invest in their 401k? First year consultant in Chicago making $72k, currently investing 18% with a 3% company match. Wondering if this is too much...

I’m a technical consultant but sick of the low pay and bad benefits at SI firms. I have some opportunities at Big 4 with better pay & benefits. Will it derail my career to move to Big 4?

Second year Consultant who came from a benefits broker. I feel like I am very much still learning the ropes of consulting. Was asked to help on a deck for proposal work for something I have no background/knowledge in. Told by the partner that I wouldn’t be creating content just story boarding and managing and organizing in the deck. The manager, familiar with the proposed solution, however seems to be annoyed with me that I didn’t create content. Not sure what to make of this?

Anyone here have the skinny on SBI (Sales Benchmark Index)? Being recruited for a Senior Consultant role. Curious to know pay, benefits, type of projects etc. It’s a permanent remote role (with travel to client site), meaning I can live wherever...which is quite intriguing to me. TIL.

I’m a second year consultant, planning to work 3 days per week for one month after a 4-month maternity leave then turn into full time. Is one month of part time enough / not enough? Any suggestions?

Does anyone else struggle to speak up in meetings? I’m a scientist/engineer and I’m usually the only female in the meeting/team. I’ve been frustrated with myself for sitting out conversation where I know more than the rest of the people (all more senior and male) but am too intimidated or unsure to speak up. Any advice on how to find the confidence to speak up more and defend my work?
