Hey everyone- I need advice on pivoting from an MCO to hospitals. I am a young healthcare professional with an MHA. Prior to graduating, I had a solid year experience interning as an administrative consultant in a hospital and I loved the environment. However when the pandemic hit, I ended up in managed care/insurance side. I would like to step into an administrator or practice manager but Im afraid my lack of direct healthcare setting experience I would have to take a low paying role. Any tips?

I feel a little lost in my career. I lost my job because of covid in March 2020 because the company wasn’t doing well. I managed to get some clients and worked as a consultant with them. Fast forward in December 2020 I found a new job which was definitely underpaying me but I took it for the benefits. I also kept my consulting work going as a side income. I’ve been doing this for a year. Recently, my workload has increased by a lot and I can’t keep up. I feel extremely overwhelmed (cont)

For the past 2 years as an analyst/SA, I've grown my project experience and skillset in the T&O space, hoping for an alignment to this practice as a consultant. I recently got my alignment into a practice that I am unfamiliar with and do not have prior experience/skills (not my first choice of T&O). Although I understand the benefits of learning new skills, this does not align with my career goals and desired trajectory. How should I approach this - staying, transferring, or shopping around?

Feeling de-motivated as a consultant in healthcare. Doesn’t feel like a lot of the work I do actually helps patients or make anyone’s life better, which was the whole draw when I started 5+ years ago. Okaaaay 🐠 need some opinions on this. I turned down B4 to come to Google (at a smaller salary admittedly). The partner from the B4 reached out to me with a pretty significant offer, I know him personally as we worked together at my old company which has its benefits.. Offered M1, $160k base, $10k sign on, and 20% bonus. Currently at $115k base, 30k/yr in RSU and 15% bonus. I’m a PgM at Google and still a consultant by definition, figure I’ll be in consulting for the long run. Thoughts on this?

Apologies if this is a silly question - New analyst here and trying to get a handle on my finances and retirement portfolio. I’m familiar with the rough sequence of saving being: 3-6 months HYSA, Company match 401k, Roth IRA, HSA, 401k max, personal brokerage (Pls correct me if i’m incorrect here). My question is: Are you expected to invest as much money as you can into each step before proceeding to the next, or do you allocate a portion of your paycheck to each of these steps simultaneously?

Regarding retirement, the way I understood it the ideal was:
1. 401k match
2. Roth IRA
3. Max 401k
4. Other accounts (eg. HSA if you are elegible, potentially 529 for your kids, otherwise just investing in stuff)

Is that right or am I forgetting something?

In our dept we have full time nurses and short hour (SH) nurses who work 20 hours a week. We do non-bedside, office-based work, M-F. When it comes to certain tasks, the SH nurses push back and say they won’t do it. For example: we have to work this upcoming Saturday to do testing for Epic. We laid out a plan for the SH nurses to work 18 hours this week so they can sign on Saturday for 2 hours to help us out. They are all refusing. We have no manager right now. Do you treat PT/SH special??
