How much money do you think a typical late 20s management consultant has in investments/cash/401k (overall savings)? I want to exclude those with cash from parents. I know there’s no real answer given the large variety of different factors at play, but just curious what people would think.

Need help with deciding between two offers. Recently accepted an offer at another consulting firm only to have my current employer counter at the last minute. Here are the offers: NEW COMPANY (Global Consulting firm): -$115K base -10% annual bonus -401K match (4%) -Senior Consultant (security strategy) -10 weeks paid paternal leave - considerably cheaper healthcare - all the resources associated with larger consulting firms (training, mentorship, perks, etc)

Second year Consultant who came from a benefits broker. I feel like I am very much still learning the ropes of consulting. Was asked to help on a deck for proposal work for something I have no background/knowledge in. Told by the partner that I wouldn’t be creating content just story boarding and managing and organizing in the deck. The manager, familiar with the proposed solution, however seems to be annoyed with me that I didn’t create content. Not sure what to make of this?

Anyone here have the skinny on SBI (Sales Benchmark Index)? Being recruited for a Senior Consultant role. Curious to know pay, benefits, type of projects etc. It’s a permanent remote role (with travel to client site), meaning I can live wherever...which is quite intriguing to me. TIL.

Hey y’all: currently weighing the benefits of obtaining an MBA. Started career with 2.5 years of corporate FP&A, then moved to Senior Consultant at a high growth Mgt Consulting firm (1.5 years in). I’ve seen roles back in industry require (interchangeably) MBA or 2-year management consulting experience. Are MBAs helpful/necessary for consultants...just to have one? Should it be more purpose-driven? Etc.

Anybody have experience with Reference Point? A headhunter/recruiter reached out with decent salary ranges, but would like to know more about the company before I respond. The site doesn’t give much details into WLB, specific duties and projects (does mention they focus on the financial industry), and benefits, but I did see one of their Consultants took a title cut (Sr. Consultant at IBM) to go there.

On my 3rd job in 2 years (consultant for a year, then left for a new company that was impacted by COVID. My new role is not very interesting and can be very pigeon holed at times. The pay and benefits are top notch, which are keeping me here. Is it too soon to jump again for something I’m more interested in or is it better to wait?

My old team got merged into IB and because of my lack of experience i have to start as A1. I really like the work but I hate that i have no control over my agenda (recently had to do calls at my own birthday party and while I was at the hairdresser). I don’t see myself doing 2-3 years until AD level, also because hours don’t get much better. What are my exit options?

I’m on the verge of closing out a final interview where my salary will go from $70k base/no bonus to $105k base+10% bonus. My title will go from senior analyst to manager. However, I’m going from Accenture to a startup that got acquired (has $2 bn parent company so bankruptcy isn’t going to happen) and I’ll be going from working with a young crowd to older people. I wouldn’t hit the comp the startup is offering for at least 3-4 yrs if I stayed at Accenture. Any advice/thoughts?
