I truly feel like some people get upset if you don’t have exclamation points or emojis in Teams/Slack messages. I just don’t see how when I don’t do that, my messages can be perceived as mean? Some people need to get a grip lol
After an interview I always have the question “Do you use Slack?”. And if the answer is no, I say what do you use? If the answer is Microsoft Teams, I will walk out.
If I get another Slack or Teams message that says “I know you’re busy but…” I am gonna lose it. If you know I am busy go ask someone else or email me and I will get to it when I am not as busy. The apology doesn’t make you any less rude or disruptive it actually just tells me that you just don’t have any respect for my time. This is the cause of burnout…
Pet peeves: I'm now officially not responding to any Teams/Slack messages with anyone who only ask how I am/"happy <insert day>" and waiting for my response without also getting to what they want. Just get to the ask. The exception is the coworkers who I actually know ask randomly without needing anything. 🙃
Why would you communicate concisely,
when you can
as many messages
as you gather your thoughts
so others have to hear that ping
over and over again.
Microsoft is stealing from everyone. Teams <> Slack, Planner <> Trello, Yammer <> Facebook
As a project manager, WFH has me in a prison of chat and email all day, so the tools now matter a lot more than they used to. What agencies (or in-house even) DON’T use Microsoft Teams/Outlook? (Ie, Google or Slack, or something else?)
What are some things you need a break from? I’ll go first: the teams/slack notification sound. Shoot me.
How do you keep politics/current events out of your teams and organizations/culture during these hyper tribal and partisan times? Of course I’ve said the standard “no discussion of religion/politics. no matter what your stance/viewpoint is.” That doesn’t seem to work though.
People still post memes in Slack. People still make underhanded political comments in meetings. Etc etc. I rolled a manager off of the project in a very public way as an example, but that only temporarily improved behavior.
The person you report to sends you “Hey can you chat real quick?” via Slack/Teams. How do you feel?
You get a slack/teams message, you’re not too busy, and you see the message.
A. Respond right away.
B. Wait a little while so that it doesn’t seem like I have nothing better to so.
teams or slack and why
Currently at my work, we’re going through a lot of process changes within the marketing and design teams. Marketing keeps updating ways of renaming and output but no one is having a meeting with the design team who ultimately has to follow these new steps to deliver our final designs to them for review. Is this typical? I feel like they don’t think it’s necessary to fill us in and just send us a last minute slack or sometimes only lets us know because we slack them asking them directly..advice?
Anyone loving or hating MS Sharepoint for creative teams? My Dept currently relies heavily on Airtable, Slack, and email, but that seems to leave some big gaps. I've tried Notion, Clickup, and Basecamp, and they all seem to have their flaws.
Dows anyone have management that requires you to have Teams or Slack on your personal phone as part of the work from home benefit?
Microsoft why are you damn obsessed with making so much of your software “start on startup” by default?
It’s so annoying and Microsoft teams is the LeAST efficient chatting app out there so it’s awful on resources. Slack is SO much faster and doesn’t start on startup (I don’t think ?)…
you’re really quite something to blatantly copy the competition, make your product more sluggish, and then add in your nasty ass dark patterns. Microsoft teams = bloatware 90% of the time. Stop prioritizing it
Any Slack SEs here? I’m in conversation with a Slack recruiter for an SE role. Curious how competitive the market is with Microsoft basically offering MS Teams for free and the pandemic starting to wind down. I see most cool startups have Slack and bigger enterprises have been getting swooped up by MS Teams because of cheaper pricing and not needing to buy Zoom. I personally like Slack more but how are current market conditions and how are y’all feeling? Slack Salesforce
Fellow Consultants slack or Teams?
Anyone else struggling with how to message / interpret messages from people on Teams / Slack? I don’t know if I seem rude not putting !s / if I seem too hype putting emojiis and !s ….sometimes I think people are not happy with me because they dont reciprocate the same level of energy…how do I go about this?
Is it petty to force someone to leave a Teams/Slack after they switch accounts? Nothing proprietary is shared, it’s mostly used for knowledge sharing
We have some Singaporean colleagues, and their chat in our Slack has been... less than PC. Is there a way to ask international teams to follow Western standards of politeness regarding questions such as race?
Got to know from my IT friend that few firms esp big 4 and IT consulting they have some spy software which shows that how long screen was stuck on one page of an employee. Is it TRUE?
Also any tricks how to play with MS teams to stop showing away? Like jabber and slack use to have feature of showing away after 45 mins etc , is there any feature for MS Teams?
IT people please confirm on that screen monitoring details thing
MS TEAMS sucks!! It’s like that chugalkhor monitor of class! Telling how long person was away and all.
Jabber/ Slack time was best atleast I could manually adjust it to “show me away after 30mins” unlike this MS TEAMS!
Consulting walo invention karo but esa bhi nai ki kisi ki khushiya le lo 🤣
Who here has been following the Teams / Slack chats at their client(s) this #log4j #log4shell weekend?
1. Are you pleasantly surprised how efficient and coordinated the various teams at each client have been with staying on top of it and handling it like pros?
2. Have you offered to help?
Let's settle this once and for all. Teams or Slack. Support your answer, especially if you've used both extensively.
Hey CDs, do you find it stressful to have creative teams that just don’t bring it. I have a couple that consistently table interesting and well crafted ideas and a couple that don’t and I feel I need to take up the slack. Management don’t want to let them go because of the current tightening of the labor market. I feel like these teams have me over a barrel and there’s very little I can do about it.
I have so many slack channels and messages I don’t even read. Now I basically only look at DMs and the channel for the project I’m working on and every now and then quickly scroll through my practice channel to see see if there are any important announcements https://www.wired.co.uk/article/time-wasted-slack-microsoft-teams
Today shit blew up so much on my two gigs all I could hear for hours was the constant barrage of pinging noises from outlook, gmail, slack and teams. Like some kind of hellish tech sounding symphony. I will probably go to sleep tonight with pings, clicks, chimes and whooshes echoing in my head into the void. Seriously y’all how do we not lose our fucking minds?
Why are firms so hesitant to fire low performers? It’s horribleeee for the teams that these people are on because everyone else has to pick up the slack
Teams are burnt. We’re all in different places. Blah blah blah. The usual hybrid work challenges. In light of that - has anyone had luck in using Slack successfully for sharing inspiration outside of just posting links? Any facilitation tips to encourage conversation, inspiration sharing and engagement amongst creative teams?
By all means, please feel free to send me as many Teams or Slack messages as possible while I’m trying to present or actively listen to someone’s feedback. It’s not distracting at all.
Any recommendations for a hybrid robot vacuum in terms of price-performance Ratio or important buying criteria? WFH makes it necessary and I want to treat myself :).
Key information: floor is parquet, so I guess it should have dry/wet/wiping functions, don’t have any pets, thought I want to spend 300€ max. but no clue if investing more is worth it.
Highly appreciate any input :)!

I've started casually looking into Change Mgmt / Business Transformation / Release Mgmt type roles. There's not much in my area (Midwest) and initial remote work applications haven't seemed to get anywhere yet. Saw a couple EY that seemed interesting but unsure where they lie.
What is target salary for Change Mgmt Senior Consultant and/or Change Adoption Manager?
This week I started a listen through my entire record collection from front to back. I’ll be doing this on workdays when I am in my home office. Did it a few years ago. Collection has grown a lot since then. But I’m not doing comedy and spoken word this time. Too hard to work to those. I expect it to take 4-6 weeks at least. Depending on how many calls I have.
