I’m autistic and over the past year, I’ve been through six jobs. Nothing is working out for me and I am struggling. I’ve never felt more down about myself in my entire life. I put in the work but it’s like they find one thing I do that they dislike and let me go because of it. I have a media background but there are no media jobs available in my area so I’m doing grunt work. If anyone has any advice or even kind words, please help me out. :(

Unfortunately our society views autism the wrong way. It’s actually a super power. Tap into your super power and change your narrative. Also be aware of your energy that you may unknowingly give off. Stay in tune with that. While this may seem a low point in your journey - years from now you will see how this made you stronger. Keep running the marathon. I know it sucks right now but you have a unique story to share that others need to hear. Maybe working in media from home is a good next step. I applaud your ability to do grunt work. Others would think it’s beneath them but this highlights your great work ethic.

I also have a varied work history..... I applaud your effort! It's hard out here on these streets for an ND! lol I'm coming to terms with not knowing what I want to do when I grow up. I am a grown-up and I'm over it. It's really hard to function when simple tasks can be very difficult. I have faith that you'll figure it out. Life will get easier as you learn more about yourself. You CAN do it! You just have to do it your way and that's ok. If someone else doesn't understand that, its not your fault.

Why would you ever want to rollover your 401K into an IRA? It seems like doing so would essentially prevent you from successfully being able to do a IRA to Backdoor Roth IRA conversion due to the pro-rata rule. Am I missing something? Wouldn’t you always want to just rollover your old 401Ks to your new 401K?

I am back to working in person and I can tell my impulsivity is impacting how some coworkers view me. They don’t know, but I wonder if people feel I am weird. I know I can’t please everyone but I want to be neurotypical masking at the very least for 9-10 hours a day (8 hrs plus lunch and a lil before & after work).
