Has anyone gone from Big 4 to a small no name accounting firm? Are you happy you made the move? Are the decreased hours worth the drop off in resources, client prestige, and technology?
Anyone deal with payroll at all? Or somehow involved with helping clients with ppp loan applications? If not, be thankful. But I just learned that “agents” are not allowed (by law) to charge a fee to the clients for services related to ppp applications. The banks were supposed to be splitting fees with agents. Anyone else dealing with?
Anyone have insight on what changed in the tax industry that guarantees lay-offs are coming? Just curious bc the entire 2020 tax year will be busy season for me. Is it just me that feels like tax cpas are underpaid to begin with?! Always understaffed and overworked? Who would agree to a 20% pay cut in a senior or staff position?! Id take the opportunity to make career changes but unfortunately work for myself.

You can seriously tell people that have something emotional or mental going on if they are struggling to get you their tax documents. I file like 100 returns a year and this is spot on each year.
With the ability to work from home now and thus the ability to travel & live in various states do we need to inform our employers where & how long we are working in various states as would think they need to pay into the states involved? Was thinking of giving up my lease in NJ and living in Airbnb’s for 30 days at a time...

Has anyone had experience or know someone that was an FBI special agent for accounting/finance? I am really drawn to this but I am concerned about the 50 hour minimum weeks, including odd hours and having to be on call 24/7.
