I’m looking at a promotion to strategy director next year, but my ECD recently approached me about if I’d consider giving copywriting a shot—wouldn’t take a paycut, come in at mid level, get partnered with strong art directors. I’m at a great creative shop and flattered leadership thinks I could do it, but also a little terrified I’d be dead weight without a book, production experience, etc. Anyone make a similar transition, or have perspective on the pros and cons?

is it worth it to shift to IB or MBB after 7 years in the big four(audit and fdd)? I do think IB and MBB are interesting fields that you can acquire unique skill sets and a good network. But I don’t think I couldn’t keep up already for a daily grind. The reason why I did not pursue it earlier in my career is that I am not from a target school and I do not have an MBA. lol thoughts?
