Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get the men who report to me to respect me? I get at 32, I'm a little younger of a manager than these seasoned guys are used to dealing with and some men don't love the idea of answering to a woman, but there still has to be a way for me to get through to them and earn their respect

Respect is earned not gotten.

Always coach, never manage. Phase out people who don’t “want” to work “with” you.

Firstly, always treat them with respect and offer them value by working with you. Listen to their concerns and needs and then figure out how to give them what they need as far as tools to help them perform (the tools that they want, not the ones you want to give them - there is a difference). Do not ever make it about you and that you are their boss. If you meet their needs happily you will earn their respect.

Help them make more money. That will get you respect and loyalty. Try to help them individually with closing deals etc. As mentioned in the previous comments lead by example. Good Luck!

Hello RSM coworkers! I am thrilled to be moving to RSM into a Scheduler roll. I just found out yesterday and want to be as prepared as possible in the next steps.

So here are my questions.

How long does the background study take? I'm guessing admin staff have a study that is faster and less complicated than someone in Tax ect.

When training at home what did you need that wasn't supplied by RSM? My home office is well stocked but I want to be as prepared as possible.

Thanks in advance!

New York folks:
Are you aware of the CPA exam credit extension to 2021 for NY CPA candidates impacted by COVID19? It’s on a person-by-person basis and you need to request the extension. Has anyone tried doing this yet? Can anyone shine more light on this? The extension would really help me, but I’m not sure what more to tell them in my email than the fact that I couldn’t sit for the exams this Spring/Summer due to test centers closing in NYC.
