What salary do you think you need to feel happy and fulfilled? I was making over 140k for the last 3 years, working over 60 hours constantly, super unhappy. The pandemic made me realize that I’m fine with 70-100k working part time, like under 30 or so.
Some of my work was supposed to compete for some metal in Cannes this year. Based on my prediction that we would win, I made plans to go to a better agency for a bigger salary. Now that Cannes (cont)
Had to resign from my job and negotiating my remaining salary with the agency with a lawyer. They’re trying to settle quickly with very little, including a clause to not talk I’ll about them in any form - but without an NDA. Should I take the cash (covid and all) or fight back and be vocal about their shady ways of operating?
When you are handed the news that you’ll be getting a raise or promoted, do you still negotiate your salary?
If you had a choice, which would you choose? A) having the annual holiday party B) splitting the holiday party budget equally between employees as bonus BONUS Q: do you know your agency's budget?
ACDs in tech, what’s your base and total comp? 👀 I’m making $160k base but am concerned it’s on the lower end of the range. At a pre IPO unicorn.
How do you address a 60k discrepancy between your salary and a colleague with your same title? In this case, I’m a female and he is a male who is less experienced and manages fewer people. Is this just the way the world works?
For the execs on here: it costs 33% of a worker’s salary + the salary of a new employee to replace someone who leaves. Remember that the next time you decide not to give someone a 10% raise.
Are salary negotiations a thing when you’re entry level/straight out of school? I feel like I’m being shafted with this offer but I’m desperate at this point :/ For context, an AAE role in NYC that pays $43k
A little over a year ago, I posted about my boss making constant comments about my salary. Most comments said I must not have been performing well. I want to update that he was fired, not me.

How are all of these associates able to afford such good lifestyles and designer things on their salary?
Recruiters need to take more heat for hiring diversity in our industry. And to those recruiters that also handle salary negotiation or titles, I wonder how many times they low balled diverse talent. Recruiters do not get a pass and just blame the system.
I accepted an offer for 2.6x my salary and my current employer tried to offer me 1.4x more to stay. .4x more is a lot and I like my current employer, but I followed the money to support my family.
Does anyone else side hustle so hard their consulting/freelance income is about as much as their salary?
So I know layoffs suck. I’ve been laid off twice in two years (and I’m pretty good at my job!) But I want to say that each time, my next gig has netted me a 20%+ salary increase. So jokes on them! I start my new gig on next week, so fingers crossed I like it. Good luck to everyone starting over! You will succeed and know your worth!
Having issues hiring out of college as our assistant level pay is too low. Rather than increasing the salary - new assistants no longer need a college degree. Does not bode well for the future.
All I want for Christmas is for clients to be able to decide on copy before I comp 4739282 versions of the same image.
Fish: I applied for a job and got interest back with a salary requirement ask. I gave it and haven’t heard back. Fear I priced myself out. It’s been two weeks. Should I respond? Thanks in advance.
Have any holding company executives reduced their compensation? Have any agency c-suites given back the bonuses they all just got for 2019?
If you believe The NY Times, PLEASE stop accepting low ball offers (staff and freelance) and agreeing to significant salary reductions going forward. Only those in the c-suite benefit, not any1 else https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/29/business/economy/ceo-pay-pandemic-layoffs.html?action=click&module=News&pgtype=Homepage
Sooo who else isn’t getting a holiday party or a bonus? Want to throw our own party on agency misfit island?
Interviewing with small agencies who want your big agency experience, etc. Do you negotiate salary assuming they have a lower range? Or do you shoot them a big agency figure? If lower, how much do you mark down?
Anyone else still living at home? I’m 26 and have a decent amount saved from living and commuting into the city. Now that I’m making a decent salary I’d like to move out but with Covid seems a bit counter intuitive . I get along with my parents and everything but need my independence... also not great for dating , thoughts?
In this current climate, a pay raise and promotion may not be likely. Do you stay hopeful and wait till your company is back in the green to potentially reward you for your past efforts or do you jump ship to another company who can pay you the right salary? FYI: you are currently underpaid by 20%, compared to what market average.
Lied about my salary so I could get more money from a company. Is there any way they could find out my current salary? 🧐
During a phone interview when HR asks what your salary requirement is, how do you politely switch it back on them to give a range for the position first?
Don’t let yesterday‘s news disappear from this feed. If we had a union, it would never allow agencies to instill these salary cuts, furloughs, and layoffs without a clear plan for reinstatement
How much higher than the salary band for a position can you say you want without pricing yourself out of a job? Worried that I gave too high of a number in hopes of getting more, but I’d accept less

For anyone who took a reduced salary for a reduced work week in this crisis: Is your agency honoring this arrangement? Do the people above you make sure you take the day? Or are they working you twice as hard but paying you less? Did they reduce your team as well and put you in a position where you had to pick up the slack and not honor their commitment to you?
How reliable do “we” feel the estimated salaries on sites are? There are some huge disparities. I’m being asked for a salary req but the sites are way off. Don’t want to price myself out. (cont’d)
What other countries than the US (I believe after reading salary posts here) do have good salaries? I love the country I’m living in but saving up money will take forever - has nothing to do with my spending but more with the lower salaries
Drowning in student debt, drowning in the wrong opportunities, I make a six figure salary working pharma but I’m in a deep depression. I can’t get out of pharma without taking a significant pay cut.

Would it better serve employee interests (fairness POV) for there to be complete salary transparency across the board? Or do you think the current system works and shouldn't be changed? - Thoughts?
