MBB fish, can you please suggest learning resources on commercial/IT/operations due diligence, e.g., tutorials, courses, books, etc.? I am genuinely interested in this work. I am a generalist at a strategy consulting boutique, so I may or may not be exposed to this sort of work, but I would like to at least develop a good grasp of how this is done in theory.
Inspired by one of my kids' favorite books, I penned this masterpiece of an Ode to Consulting: One senior partner all alone Calls two managing directors on the phone Three associate partners at the door Bring along another four Five senior managers come overdressed Six managers show up with a guest Seven senior consultants arrive in a sack Eight associates sneak in the back Nine analysts come to work ALL THE CONSULTANTS GO BERSERK!!! Ok, I'll show myself out now... 😂

What are your favorite books for consulting?
Friday thoughts on Strengths vs weaknesses: I have been told that I am solid in quant, but need development on the creative side of things - brainstorming, strategic frameworks, maybe even writing. If this situation can be improved, what should I do? books or videos or exercises? This doesn't seem easy to tackle at all... If this just reflects how I am like, does it mean I'm not fit for consulting in the longer haul (looking at SC, PM max)? Or perhaps I should focus on DD type of consulting?
I’ve worked in Consulting for the past 2.5 years and I’ve loved it! Today is the day where all the horror stories I’ve heard about consulting came true. I worked until 1AM this morning to finish deliverables for a client I’m working on. I’ve had PTO on the books for the past two months and jumped on a flight this morning to enjoy the rest of the week off. I land and my phone buzzes for a fire drill that only I can solve. Should I work for the next 10 hours and fix or say screw it not my problem?

Ambiguity in consulting. This is a significant part of this industry as many of us wade in front of a vague asks and have to craft something impactful with little to go on. There are frameworks to problem solve, yes, but many times the ambiguity comes well before a framework can even be determined. Have you seen good resources in books or online that have helped you hone your skill for working through it?

I recently got diagnosed with ADHD. I'm 31 and found this only because b school and post mba consulting job was/is much more challenging than anything I did before. What I'm confused about is that even as a teenager I could read entire books overnight. But the last two years of high school I started selectively zoning out and the problem has become worse since. I just realised it now. My doctor has suggested treating depression (I was also unaware of this) with Wellbutrin first (contd)

Ladies who settled for their man, do you regret it? I feel like I constantly see women being told to forget about looks, height, financial stability, even certain character traits just so they can get a man and be married but men are encouraged to keep all their standards up (long hair, thick, skinny, skin tone, you name it). So if you did settle, do you think it’s worth it? If you didn’t settle, did you find your partner?
