Apply for a job on the consulting side. I used to hire people who were involved with the data and data cleaning at a business to implement the software my company implemented.
Have you looked into doing any sort of internship? It can be really hard to break into HR. Sometimes even the tiniest bit of experience can get you in the door somewhere.
I went from Payroll into our HR Tech shortly after a major implementation. Look for a company that’s hiring for HRIS roles with implementation experience and then look into what roles they have that you might qualify for. Another good thought - if you use a major HRIS now, get on their customer connection site and start figuring out what other companies use a software you’re already familiar with.
Ahhh see you are reading my mind! This is what I have been attempting. My last THREE companies have dangled the “we are hoping to implement a new HRIS” .. I have been waiting and suffering almost 3 years where I am at. I am now scrubbing data, report creating and using excel for extensive formulas — yet I know they have systems that do this type of work.. I am basically selling the idea to my CHRO and CFO to get a new system, so I can help implement it, make half my job obsolete, but in turn get experience to gain interest at another company. without the credentials my resume sees no traction.
Sorry to ramble.. I am thinking I may pay for a basic workday and ADP admin cert on Coursera..

You already have a strong foundation. I would explore HRIS certifications, shadow implementations internally, or volunteer for system projects. Position yourself as the bridge between HR and tech.
Thank you!
I have worked in HR for 6+ years so I am lucky to have that. I was moved into a HR Ops Analyst role without much guidance and only running on instinct.. it feels more like centre of excellence.. but honestly I feel like I need more of the digital side of HR analyst education.. to learn how to utilize AI and pivot into HRIS admin without having to completely dive into a Data Analytics/ or compsci course.
I feel like I do everything the slow non automated way with Excel hahaha thank you though!
