Does anyone have recommendations for a career coach either based in Chicago or accessible virtually? Looking for interview prep/training specific for agency leadership position. Many thanks !
Am on day 3 of a new senior gig I’m very excited about, however finally got an email to interview for another senior position at the dream agency/team I’ve been networking/emailing with for months. Feel a bit dirty even interviewing taking the call as I just joined…but also who am I to turn down an opp? What would you do?
Maybe the Great Resignation is happening simply because WFH makes it so much easier to job hunt and interview, combined with the wider geographical choices now available. If so, the initial crazy shuffling will slow. And it's no wonder the overlords want us back in office.
Anyone have the scoop on applying to Instrument (Portland)? What kind of work do they want to see? I’ve got some digital work, but my best stuff is pure copy (manifestos, video scripts, etc.) Still worth it to apply?
I sent someone a thank you message on LinkedIn after an interview last week and they've seen it but haven't replied... should I email them too or just let it be?
I just got an initial interview with FCB for copywriting…any tips, tricks, advice or good juju would be so appreciated!!! Thank you!
I’m interviewing with some large companies and my spouse is not being supportive or excited for me. I’m struggling to cope because it almost seems like they’re jealous of me. No “congrats” or “this is great. Good luck” idk how to approach this.
Interviewing with Amazon Advertising. What should I propose for total compensation? Sales Account Manager role NYC. Base salary + RSUs+ commission. I have no idea what to propose. Any insight would be helpful thanks.

If you interviewed over a week ago, is it too late to send a thank you email? Do thank you emails even work?
Has anyone ever reached out to the people they interviewed poorly with and had any luck?

Interview coming up at Viacom. What’s the culture like these days? Fair comp? Is remote-only option available? Would be for a Director/Executive level role(s). TIA!
When making the Jump from AAE to AE, what should the salary be? How much of a salary increase should I expect if I got promoted within my current agency vs. getting hired as an AE at a different agency. Trying to see if I want to stick it out at my agency or start interviewing over the next 6 months.
The hiring process is dated and exhausting a. No less than 3-5 interviews. If you’re in tech, that final “on-site” is likely a test or presentation equivalent to hours of work. b. Then, the thank you notes to eeeevvveerrryyyooonnee you interviewed with c. The anxiety-ridden waiting game d. The offer + negotiations e. References f. Background check WTFFFF, ya’ll owe me $$$ for my time
Best interview questions. Wrong answers only.
1.5 yrs experience at mid level at a holding company agency, working on accounts that should in theory present a ton of creative opportunity, but for many reasons that is not the case. I have very little produced work and that seems unlikely to change. Am in final rounds of interviews for a senior position at another holding company agency on an account where the work will almost certainly not be “great” but should be able to make a lot of it. Do I make that jump to senior this early?
I agree with never turning down an interview as practice, but let’s say you keep advancing but aren’t really interested. At what point do you remove yourself from consideration? And what’s the best way?
About how long has it be taking to get an offer (or rejection) after your final interview this year? Basically trying to figure out when is a good time to follow up without being pushy. Thanks!
Interviewing in-house! Went through three rounds of interviews and now at the reference stage. Not sure this has ever been asked of me at agencies. Are my chances good??
I’m no longer feeling fulfilled at work. I’ve been feeling this way for the past 5 months, but I love my team and have developed amazing relationships with them. Should I jump ship for more money? (10-15K more) Ive been interviewing to get an idea, but the accounts I’ve interviewed for also don’t sound exciting.
Hello! Long time Fishbowl lurker but first time poster. Currently an intern at a small independent agency ready to make the leap to Junior Copywriter. Been networking like a dog on LinkedIn though haven't scored any real interviews yet. Which shops are looking for Junior CW talent currently? And what is the most proactive way to apply? Thanks in advance :)
How far do you stray from “years of experience” requirements when applying for jobs? I have 6 years of FTE marketing/advertising experience. Do I have a shot at jobs that are asking for 8+ years experience??
Had final interview with company, about a week later recruiter says they want to interview more people before making a decision but that they're also hiring more headcount now. What's your overanalysis of my chances?

A few years ago I landed an interview at W+K to for their lead social role. I didn’t get it. The guy who did was just promoted to…ECD of W+K in Portland. I work at a third-rate digital agency reporting to our head of strategy in a big network making boring decks for boring clients.
Best advice for negotiating the salary you want — when you’re hoping for 10K or a 10-15% jump from your last salary? Interviewing at a smaller shop but they have lots of business. Thanks for the advice! First timer with negotiations.
Any advice for someone (a friend) looking to transition from film production to advertising (in toronto, if that matters)? Having a ton of trouble getting even an interview for a junior role - even the most junior account roles are asking for 1-3 years of agency experience. TONS of transferable skills and super eager/great attitude, just hitting a wall. I suspect all it’ll take is a break by one of the many people he’s met for coffee, but any advice or words of wisdom would be appreciated.
I have an interview tomorrow with an ECD at an agency that is showing some red flags. But I’m at an agency now that is just one giant red flag and is driving me crazy. Do I take the jump to the other agency (if they offer me the job) or stick it out at my current job and hope something with no red flags comes along?
Is there an “ideal” time to interview?
Second interview with an agency today, this time with a couple team members. Give me the pep talk! Any pointers?
I recently had an interview with a Publicis agency and didn’t feel as if I was able to fully grasp the work/life culture or company culture as a whole. Anyone work there willing to give their thoughts on the overarching company?
Started a new job very recently. Like under a month. Interviewing (because i never turn down a convo) at another place that I’m fairly sure will offer me a job. Both these opportunities are good. The first offers a good brand building opp. The second offers a great new media opp. If these events coincided I would take the second. A bit torn on how to handle
Getting far along in the interview process.. kind of starting to get cold feet. Anyone been in the same spot (current job is not exciting anymore but fear of the unknown giving you second thoughts)?
a recruiter who i’ve worked with before and has connected me to 2 job offers (did not take them), just reached out again. i saw the JD and personally i don’t want to move right now especially since i was just promoted and on a new account. what should i say? i don’t want to waste his time by taking interviews i don’t want or end up taking, but i also know you shouldn’t say no to a recruiter/interview
I'm getting ready to accept an offer at a new agency, but what I really want is to go in-house. I had 6 very positive interviews at a co. but lost out by a hair. They said they're growing & would keep me in mind for future relevant openings. Is it worth pinging that co's recruiter to let her know I'm considering a role at a new agency & ask if they expect any openings soon? Feels unlikely, but I'd hate to start a new job and then get a call from the company I actually want to work for.
I am going to have 5 video interviews from 2 companies all in one Friday. Any strategy to be at peak performance in all the five interviews?
Had a final round interview. Went well. I was the first final round and the company is building out a large team. Timeline to hear back was a couple weeks. When is it appropriate to reach out? 2 weeks?

I have round 2 interviews coming up with Kearney for an Associate role within the Strategic Operations practice. Is anyone else here practicing, looking to practice, or has had experience with the firm? Would love to understand a few things: 1) Types of cases to expect. 2) Is the format very different from the McKinsey style of casing? Aside from Kearney expecting the candidate to lead the case. 3) I've heard cases are mostly Operations oriented. Is that true? Thank you in advance
I am in a situation where my group is about to be laid off. I have not interviewed for 8 years and never in the US. I consider myself extremely talented in the tech field and have contributed to many well used libraries and frameworks but I can’t even get an interview anywhere I apply. Are there any resources to get feedback on what I’m doing wrong?

Hi! I want to exit out of consulting with almost 4 years under my belt. I’m mainly looking for product manager roles but debating going into SWE (after studying). I’ve applied to so many roles externally but rarely get call backs. How can I increase the number of interviews I’m getting or be seen as a competitive applicant?

How do you deal with family in India believing and spreading every false rumor/forwarded message on WhatsApp? I stopped correcting them a few years ago when I realized it was bad for my relationship with them, but the forwards nowadays especially related to Covid is outright dangerous (and obviously false when read by an educated person). Very worried about this
