What % of your 401K contribution does your employer match? Trying to get some benchmarking ideas, thanks
NYC 🐠 - Ran into this absolute charmer last night - he is truly such a sweet little chonk. He is with an volunteer run rescue and was abandoned on the street by his owners at age 12 (!). He is in ~urgent~ need of a foster - I’d take him but I’ve just put in a binding application to adopt a rescue out of Texas, and won’t know for a few weeks. They will pay for his food, supplies, and healthcare. Please let me know if you would be interested in fostering, and I can you connect w/ the rescue 🥺🙏
Fellow Europeans: how much cash do you keep in your check account? Providing all the safety nets we have here (unemployment benefits, health insurance), don't feel the need too much cash available, perhaps one month of income is enough but I might be wrong.
Assuming compensation would be the same at M level, would you jump to a similar company to speed up promotion by a year if you already have good WLB, network, benefits, etc.? Why?
Thoughts on working at Walmart corporate? I imagine pay is below market and benefits are subpar but don’t know if that’s true.
Currently contributing 18% to savings (8% 401k and 10% to savings account) and also paying $2250/month for grad school. I have a healthy savings balance and am not expecting and need to use it anytime soon. Is is ok to cut back on what I put into my savings account while I’m in school? Feeling stretched thin and have always had the impression it’s bad to not be contributing to savings regularly. Thinking if I’m paying for school it’s ok to be less aggressive with savings. Looking for input.
Hi all! How does my portfolio (25 years old) look? Out of my total net worth: 35% in 401K (invested in target retirement fund with employer matching), 10% in Roth IRA, and the remaining 55% in brokerage account (44% SP500, 4% on bonds, 6% in capital and income, 1% in international stocks). Thank you!
If you are on the bench and about to be staffed but have a job offer in hand that you’re going to accept, would you 1. Say no and try to ride out the bench at the risk of ruining your reputation 2. Say yes to the project and tell the team in a few weeks you’re leaving 3. Put in your two weeks at the risk of being let go immediately and not get paid or have health insurance
What’s the most you would ever consider contributing to retirement accounts? The max for us is $97k. Which is $58k for a Solo 401k for me, and $39k for both 401k and 457b for spouse.
Joining my husbands health insurance but there’s still money left in my HSA- can I use still use this account after I switch insurance? Do I need to roll this over?
What are some of the perks you get as a SC @EY or @D? Work phone, food vouchers, gifts, cringe benefits from SM/Ps etc.. Asking for a friend who's is deciding between these two companies and coming from industry!
Do McKinsey or BCG have a paternity leave benefit? If so, is it a year of employment to use it? Thanks!
Regarding retirement, the way I understood it the ideal was: 1. 401k match 2. Roth IRA 3. Max 401k 4. Other accounts (eg. HSA if you are elegible, potentially 529 for your kids, otherwise just investing in stuff) Is that right or am I forgetting something?
Can someone please share information on EY health insurance plans? What plans they offer and how much it costs for Employee+spouse+kid
What generally produces better returns - 401k invested in index, or landlords with leverage?
Are you entitled to parental leave benefits from Day 1 at Accenture? We will have a baby within the first year of me working at Accenture…trying to confirm whether I’ll be eligible for leave benefits.
Going to business school next year and will need to pay for most of it. Should I stop adding extra to retirement and just get the company match in 401k (not maxing out 401k or IRA, which I do now)? Or should I just contribute as much as I can to retirement and deal with the loan after graduating?
At what salary do people max out their Roth 401k? Just curious to know if I’m saving too little (or much) where I’m at. 1 year out of college if that helps for context!
Where do you work, and what educational benefits does your employer provide? Currently working full time and taking some classes toward my master’s. I’ve been at my firm for a little over 2 years as it was my first gig out of undergrad. It provides an annual stipend for education, but I’m bored, unchallenged, unfulfilled, and underpaid. I want to explore what other companies offer to make an educated decision as to whether I should go elsewhere. TIA!
Bain vs McK: which has better benefits / programs (ex: Bain externship)? Don’t know which has better non-monetary benefits. I have offers from both and I’m deciding. Post-MBA level Bain & Company McKinsey & Company

I have an interview lined up with PWC for their senior healthcare payer associate role and I was wondering if I should keep moving forward with the process or accept an offer from a tech company as their senior logistic analyst. I don’t know if I should take the risk of putting aside the offer and keep moving forward with the interview phase. I just passed the phone interview and will be moving forward with their technical round next. Thanks again everyone! PwC
I HAVE NO CLUE HOW TO MODEL HEALTHCARE CLAIM COSTS AND TREND. THANKS COVID. THANKS OBAMA.
Speaking of 401k’s….what should someone just starting out in consulting (late 20s M) choose between 401k vs 401k Roth? What are some things that need to be taken into consideration? Going to be making this decision coming up and just wanting pick y’all’s brains.
Saw this on Twitter and not picking sides, just want opinions. Thoughts? Market also gives you an opportunity to compound your money, but people are also at the risk of losing life savings if market heads in the wrong direction. Is this just a way for companies to avoid paying pension? Genuinely curious. Thanks for feedback.
Does anyone work for BCG as a healthcare consultant? My wife is looking for a referral. She has a PHD and is an amazing potential hire.

Any tips on negotiating for an Analyst role at MBB? I have been told MBB has fixed pay bands and there is less scope for negotiation. Someone suggested to ask for higher joining bonus. Any other ways I can negotiate? Any perks benefits? New to corporate space so dont really know these tactics or even things I can negotiate about. Would appreciate all inputs. Thanks!

Ladies, I recently left consulting for a VP level job in industry. I report to another VP so they choose to “withhold that title for my functional title.” Have all the benefits and sig authority....
Senior, pregnant and worried about busy season because half the seniors in my practice quit in the past two months. Directors have said to seniors “brace yourself”. I am already stressed and high risk and off my ADHD meds and struggling a lot to get work done. Is it worth taking maternity leave early and “screwing over” my teams? I feel guilty. Doctor suggested to take medical leave if I am struggling. Need advice 😢
I’m paying $1600 a mos for my benefits and that’s with a $9k family deductible. Is that what you are paying too?

Does anybody know how HSA benefits work with unmarried domestic partners? We are on same health plan but it’s unclear whether hsa is tax advantaged or not for my partner. Online info is very unclear as well.
Looking for some advice. Currently contributing 10% to 401k and maxing out Roth IRA, and remainder of savings (usually $800-$1200 per month) putting in a HYSA for a down payment on a house. Hoping to buy in 2-3 years once we (partner & I) have a sizable down payment. Should I continue to put all my non-retirement savings in an HYSA for a downpayment or should I also contribute to my brokerage and invest to grow wealth? (24yo, $85k)

Is LinkedIn helpful? I only see it as a means to showcase one's experience/education background. Am I missing out on its benefits? Not a lot of big agencies post jobs there (atleast in my city) and the recruiters that do reach out have vague, often marketing-related, job offers.
I get there is no such thing as optimal 401k contribution as it varies by person but is 20% too much for someone just starting out? No ROTH offered

3 YoE in health consulting (generalist w/agile and change management experience), and finally received a secret clearance. But now concerned I'm pigeonholing myself over the next 3 years as I think a lot of health work at my firm that requires clearances are more "butts in seats" My goal is to learn as much as I can over next 3 years (WLB is not a concern). With that said, despite the job security of a clearance, would it be better to consider looking at commercial consulting roles?
I don’t want to burn my bridges, but my dream agency contacted me after being at my new job for a month! I’m all for sticking it out, but this other opportunity allows for more creativity, closer to home, and most likely better pay. Anybody ever been in this position, and what did you do?
Got an offer for a tier 2 firm and accepted it. Are there any actual risks of getting my offer revoked if I apply to mbb?

Would you rather work for an older, more established company with lots of employees, average salary and a slow climb of the ladder to leadership? OR Would you rather work for a relatively new startup with 2000 employees, GREAT salary and quick career progression, but alot of learning because it’s a startup.? P.S. both companies are known across the globe.
