Unfortunately, that still happens often. Not sure if it’s intentional or unintentional. If anything, this would reaffirm that I’ve made the right decision to leave. And I guarantee that if you were still at the old firm and brought this up, they would find some excuse how he showed more potential, was more ready, or some other excuse (which is rarely valid).
I just left my government job for that exact reason!
Just a different perspective, perhaps they heard your feedback and have adjusted to make sure the next associate doesn’t leave for the same reason.
Yeah I think this is fair. It's kind of like how you leave your ex for being a jerk and he treats his next gf much better. Could be because he likes her more but also he probably learned a bit from his mistakes too
At least two women who 100% should be making partner this year in one of our practice groups are being held back at my firm. A less experienced man is leapfrogging them straight to partner after working here for less time (previously fired for not passing the bar and boomeranged back).
