What reason could I give in my exit interview for leaving the firm? I don't want to burn bridges and want to keep the window open to return. But miserable in this current role.

How do you approach interviews where you don't necessarily like the role but are entertaining it while you wait on other options?

Sounds silly but does anyone feel guilty interviewing around for jobs to see what they can get while being somewhat content in their current role?

Currently working at T2 in Toronto, actually consultant level (FB not updated). Working about 9-11pm M-T and 9-6pm F, limited weekend work (DDs, otherwise 10% of weekends) for me. Mixed bag of P/P, some quite toxic, others are more relaxed. Constant travel outside of US (non-covid).

Our group had 3 seniors leave during busy season and I know of 2 more that plan on leaving this summer. I also started interviewing but can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of guilt for leaving our staff/new seniors knowing next busy season will be absolutely brutal for them all. Help me feel better about leaving!

I'm so frustrated. I've been working for 10 years and I can't get an interview for Senior AD roles, but I get tons of enthusiastic calls for Intermediate ones. Im doing the work of a senior now - concepting alone, working direct with clients, guiding the odd junior - and I do a lot of stuff for the community at large that shows leadership (like conference stuff).

I've had CDs review my book and they say my work is great. Why can't I land a senior job? I want to manage, I have good ideas. WTF?

Good Q. For our 1-3 year people, it’s a 1 hour 2 staff interview. Everything above that is about 2/2.5 hours with 4-6 practice leads/senior staffers and our GM.

Did you or anyone you know take less than the maximum paid parental leave? Particularly interested in biglaw. I feel like all the women I know have taken full leave, but most men did not. I actually find it offensive when a man doesn’t take full paid leave. First, you shouldn’t be voluntarily putting the burden on your partner. Second, you are perpetuating the idea that women are less reliable employees because of pregnancy and taking longer parental leaves. Thoughts?

My husband likes to walk around the house nude (& sleeps in the nude). I’ve never loved it, but didn’t care enough to fight him on it. We now have an infant & it grosses me out when he’s around her & is naked. I’ve told him it bothers me, but he still does it occasionally, especially if she’s crying at night & he gets out of bed to comfort her. He doesn’t think it’s a big deal. Idk what else to say/do to get him to stop. Am I making too big a deal out of it?
