Heard some layoffs going around at KPMG Canada. How’s other Big4 folks doing?

International student and Deloitte C here who was laid off recently. Given the circumstances (COVID, my visa status, Trump’s new executive order), I need to find a new job ASAP or I risk being uprooted from a country I’ve invested so much into. I graduated with a degree in civil engineering, co-founded a social impact startup at 20 and worked for ~2 years in Deloitte. Ideally looking to pivot to something more strategy based but any and all leads will be greatly appreciated at this point!

If you’re being paid out severance over a period of time rather than lump sum, are you still considered to be employed by the company? What is your termination date if you’re still receiving payments?

Hello there, i’m wondering if anyone on this group has experience opening your own agency? I was laid off in April and had been freelancing ever since. I have been luck enough getting a few projects without really seeking people out while slowly interviewing. In the back of my mind I have always wanted my own agency. How do you get more clients and dealing with the sales/pitching process on your own? also as WOC i don’t feel like have the right network to tap into for higher earning projects

Someone I know applied for an SC position with a fake resume. Literally no IT experience. Apparently recruiter bought it and scheduled a second round with a PPMD. I can't accept the fact that our colleagues are getting laid off and yet people like these get an opportunity to join the firm. Any thoughts?

Walked into the office in rolled up jeans, white t shirt and sneakers. Met a partner, got his number, IT actually did their job and was out of there without being fired. Can I just call it a day now?

How is EY doing with layoffs etc

I was just told that my role is being eliminated in early November. I’ll know about severance tomorrow. Is it worth having an employment attorney look at it, or should I just take what they offer?

I just got fired from job as an Account executive at a company for not performing well enough after 3 months (Even though we are still in middle of pandemic in NYC).I want to get into SaaS sales soon. My new boss just saw (and pinged) my husband walking around half naked on my back…I felt so humiliated! And he is always like that, and I have reminded that he should wear a tshirt when I am on a call. But most of the time he is not aware (playing video games or working). And he doesn’t like to wear at least a tshirt at home at all and had to walk around when I was working. I tried to apologize to my boss but worried about my professional image.
