Hi y’all. So I haven’t technically onboarded for my firm yet, I’m suppose to start in 3 weeks. One of the projects I’m going to be put on requested to have a little interview with people of the team so I had mine today. The “interviewer” didn’t really seem to think I was qualified for this project at the end of the conversation (agree to disagree with him on that). Regardless, am I in trouble for not fitting his criteria/selling myself enough…kinda worried on my manager’s response….

Hey all! Any guidance on leaving my firm after being placed on an upcoming project? I got an industry offer that I’d love to take, but I just got word that a new client would like me for a project after several weeks of interviewing with them. The project is scheduled to start in about 4-6 weeks, so I havent started anything, but I can imagine the conversations would be tricky, given the amount of effort invested already from both sides. Anyone gone through a similar thing?

Questions for Ms, SMs and Ps, if you are interviewers, would you rather have the interviews on Mon to Thu, or Fridays?

Can someone help me understand something? I work for a three atty firm (incl. me). OPC works for a 12 atty firm. We compared salaries. Same billable requirement. Same year (5th). Same county. Same field of law. Same everything. Same bonus structure. By working at smaller firm I am a cumulative $95k behind her. Are there firm economics I don’t understand that explain why I get paid so much less working for a smaller firm? Boss and I are super tight and I’m shocked I’ve been underpaid so much.

How does $19,500 401k participant contribution limit differ from $57,000 defined contributions limit (all sources, employee + employer)?

In addition to pre-tax, I do post-tax 401k contributions. And I see online they “some plans allow employee to make after-tax contributions once the 2020 $19.5k contribution limit is hit, up to limit of $57k”

So once I hit the $19.5k, I can do up to $57k (including employee contributions), but in excess of $19.5 needs to be post tax. Correct?
