I know a lot of people are working two or three jobs to get by in LA. Pretty much the only people who are getting by on a single income are high-earning tech employees and those who come from generational wealth, or those in the entertainment industry. I personally wouldn't live in LA unless I was making seven figures. I live in California, but even just visiting LA is out of my price range.

Thanks for sharing your insight. This seems to be very accurate. Its challenging if family wants to stay here though. :/
I guess the best mentality for living in a high-cost city is extreme thrift. Or maybe just examining if it's really worth it. If you work at a lucrative career, you may need to be in such a place to pursue your career. But if you want to live as just an ordinary person at an ordinary job, it may not be worth it to you. I'm always amazed at people who live in big cities but don't really take advantage of what the cities offer. They go to work, go home, and watch TV. They could live that life anywhere.

This is helpful insight. Me and my wife live like normal people with normal jobs. The only advantage is that we have family close by which is big for raising kids. Its just frustrating when its so expensive and you do all the right things and you still could barely afford it.
My stepdaughter survives in L.A. with 3 roommates. Only way.

This is helpful information. It seems like most people need to share housing expense. I am curious how anyone actually could afford living here by themselves and have kids.
