PhD in Chemistry w/ 8 YOE. Now pursuing a part-time MBA while working as an R&D manager is a chemical company. I don't enjoy chemistry research anymore and want to try something else. I'm interested in consulting and think it could open doors for me to do something different after a few years. My main struggle is that I think I'm pretty old to make such a change (if I can get into consulting) ...not sure if anyone has a similar background that can share the insights.
Btw- M, 36, married w/ kids

I am a project manager with the strong desire to transition into product management but I’m feeling a little discouraged. Every opportunity I come across mentions 7-10 years experience. I just started training for the Google UX certification with hopes that may better prepare me. Any other suggestions? Words of advice on how to best make this transition?

Am I crazy? My WLB skews heavy on the L side, my salary is $150k, and most days I’m bored AF with work. Just not engaged or challenged, and I want to be. I want a job that is engaging or challenging…but I’d be giving up the freedom I currently have. I miss the work I did in my MBA program - I want more of that.

Evaluating an offer from EY. I would be joining at Senior 1 level in their Workforce Advisory practice (specifically, learning team). I have 3.5 YOE in Deloitte in the same practice (offshore USI team in India).
They are offering $70k CAD. I have an MBA and live in Toronto. I feel this offer is very much on the lower end - even despite the upcoming recession etc.

Currently a patent litigation associate with lots of hearing, depo and trial experience (I’ve appeared on my own at hearings/depos) at a well respected firm. Have my CIPM and CIPP/US /E and /C. Just feeling the burn out; 2000 hours of billables a year just isn’t sustainable for me long term. Money isn’t a huge issue.
