Used to be in a quant group. We had an underperforming staff who we let go. He claimed to HR he was discriminated against bc he was an MBA. To which they responded: that's not a protected class.
Question regarding experience with Deloitte recruitment- is it normal for the recruitment team to go cold after scheduling the face-to-face interview? Been weeks and no communication from them.
I bought a ~4k sqft home in Chicago suburb about 7 years ago. It has ~2k sq ft unfinished basement. At the time of moving into this home, we were expecting our daughter and then we also had our son two years later. I was on the fence on finishing the basement at that time because I wad not sure to invest $50k (min) in finishing the basement. Now the kids are 7 and 5, I am thinking if I should finish it so kids can enjoy but it is not a necessity. Thoughts on ROI of finishing the basement.
Anyone on the Bowl from CBIZ? If so I’d appreciate any thoughts/opinions about the basics: culture, hours, challenging work, people etc any thoughts you have CBIZ, Inc.
Leaving for industry for a large pay bump. Don’t want to go back to PA. After you leave, how do you: 1) stay current on skills? 2) continue to achieve pay increases? 3) get guidance on regulation when you don’t have firm guidance?
Moved into a new building a couple months ago. There’s a doorman who will see me struggling with packages or bags and never offers to help (automatic door so he’s not even actually opening the door). Am I really expected to give him a holiday bonus at the end of the year??
When I was hired as an associate, I was informed that associates are paid within a certain range based on their graduation class year. I negotiated my salary, but was told the firm could not pay a higher amount because of the range associated with my class year. Fast forward one year, a new associate is hired (same class year as me) and I find out that said person, who is of the opposite gender, is paid approximately $50k more then me. Any advice on how to handle?
My firms bonus structure is based on “billed out” (what a partner actually bills to the client) dollars instead of actual hours billed. So you can work 2000 hours but the bonus is based on only 1850 hours, because 150 got cut over the year. Is this normal? It seems entirely unfair and makes it impossible to get a bonus.
Any NYC-based CDs willing to crit my shit? I’m a senior with 6+ years’ experience trying to jump to the next tier of creative shops. Will DM my 📖. Thanks in advance!
Have first rounds with McK and BCG in two weeks (undergrad) and am liberal arts major. I’m nervous about math portion of case interviews - any resources for practice case math outside of rocket blocks? Or general advice?
How do you all handle stress at work? I’m on a though project and feeling sort of hung out to figure it all myself. My stomach is in knots and I’m waking up in the middle of the night thinking about the case.
Do big 3 firms spend a lot of time on excel/ppt/proofreading like big 4 do? When you are assigned research, is it meaningful work?
