Over the years due to job changes I ended up having accounts in both Vanguard & Fidelity. I have since consolidated my IRAs & 401ks in Vanguard but left a taxable account in Fidelity. I am retiring & want to simplify my life & was thinking of closing the Fidelity account & moving all the balances in Vanguard. Is there a sensible reason to leave my Fidelity account as is as a backup access in case the Vanguard system goes down for “whatever reason”?

I am a terrible wife! It’s my husbands birthday today (39th) and I did not even find time to get him a gift. We came out of state for an extended weekend with my young toddler as a kind of birthday treat, but I realize that I am just not making enough efforts. I just got him a slice of carrot cake and made a super simple breakfast. I had to put this down somewhere! I almost feel like all I am doing is running behind this little energy bunny all day all night. Sorry, vent over.

Accepted an offer and my start date is mid October. I asked about background check results and if they were going to send me an email once everything was cleared. I was told they don’t do that. How am I supposed when to put my 2 weeks notice ? I wanted to take some time off between jobs but I want to have everything cleared before doing so.
