I am 5th year SM and hope to be a partner by next year or so. In my early 40s with young kids.. so thinking about my next move and WLB. I am being approached by Recruiters from large tech companies with VP level role with a total comp of $500k or more. I am double minded now if I should stick to my PPMD track or make a switch now. Money is definitely important ... so wanted to ask your opinion if sticking with PPMD track will be more lucrative in long run. Thanks.
Is it stupid to take a pay cut when leaving consulting? I have an offer for an industry senior manager that is ~5k under my total comp but has a ton less stress/hours. (MBB EM)
Just found out I was promoted to Senior Manager (People Advisory Services) Salary is $155k. Anyone else think that sounds low?
Someone want to explain how everyone in consulting can be this duped... we accept promotions for more responsibilities without knowledge of compensation... that literally doesn’t happen anywhere else. How dumb are we? Ps. I don’t count myself, I’ve never taken a promotion without jumping firms :) though plan on doing it next year - as SM
Trying to decide b/t two offers, currently an Mgr w/ M7 MBA. Both are traditional multinationals, but diff sizes. Any help appreciated! 1) Director title, low brand recognition, smaller company (low multi-billion $ rev) no hope for stock. 185k base, 20% bonus, but heard no bonuses or salary bumps this year. 2) Senior Manager title (so one step below 1st offer), much larger company ($50B+), potential for stock at Director level, $175k salary, 10% bonus, but company is doing well despite COVID
I have seen the 2000-01 and 2008 recessions in 2 different industries and now 3rd.I have seen the best and the worst of times.I have been at jobs for 10 years with no bonus and no raises. The problem is that for the last 9+ years we are living in a speculation where everyone believes they deserve bonus and a raise every year and to make it to M/SM by year 5 and get other people do the work. They haven't however learned how to survive and pick up skills which they will allow them to rise up when need comes.
SM asking big 4 for 180$ base. Just got a boutique firm asking me to contract for a 18 months. Given I have to pay my own insurance, health, benefits etc., how should I calculate a good hourly rate.
Need feedback on my offer: non tech level 5 / Base 148/Bonus 15%/Equity 215/no sign-on. TC comes to ~225k/year. Best way to negotiate? 2021 is my SM promotion year at big4, 12 YOE. Thanks!
Came into public accounting from school & put my head down & made it to Senior Manager (maybe a year early). Now, reflecting, I am considering whether this is what I want to do going forward and worried about being pigeon-holed to tax for life if I stay longer. Comp also has never kept up to expectations. For others who’ve been in this position, what made you stay or go? Is the grass greener? Or should I stick with it and be happy w/ slight chance at partner @ some pt down the line?
What is the salary range for SM’s (VP / Senior Director) at EYP? Went from M to SM and trying to figure if I got fucked over not... 🤷♂️

Stick or twist question for the bowl. London. SC. Salary: £45k. Informed no promotions due to COVID. High ratings during time in grade - 1,1 & 2. Direct sales of over £1.1 + another £300k imminent. Requested in name by current client. Performing Senior Manager roles for over 18m - Currently Program Director for a critical project with control of £13m budget and 100+ people. Finished self-funded part-time MBA in Jan (73% average). Frustrated & demoralised. Being taken for a ride or delusional?
Would you exit (+30% more salary - less work - good company but potentially more narrow role) when you have a substantial shot to Senior Manager this year (I.e. 6-7 months until decision takes place)?
Consulting SM to PPMD VS. FAANG, as non tech, which has more salary potential? I mean do people in FAANG make over 250k typicallly?

Just hit the 1 year mark as a post-MBA consultant at a T2 and realizing consulting isn’t for me. Are there any industries where someone with 5 YOE and MBA can get a senior manager or director role with $200k+ total comp or should I expect a pay cut?
Help! What have you heard is starting salary for senior manager (include your region and market size of company)?
Unsure of my next move. I left Big 4 for a smaller niche firm, I’m a senior manager there, but not loving the offerings/niche after working it for 2+ yrs now. However, my comp is good ($170k all in, 6.5 yoe) and I’m worried I couldn’t get that elsewhere. Ideally would like to stick with a company and move into exec leadership, but I don’t know how to break in since all I know is consulting. What roles fast track to leadership? My exp is strategy/analytics in the natl sec/defense space.
I’ve been working on an internal sales team where the SM in charge was unorganized, a bad communicator, and as a bonus, they liked to blatantly lie in sales calls. They took a leave earlier this year, and while they were gone we found an amazing manager that’s up for promotion to take over. Now the SM is back, and they’re back to their old ways/operating in a silo. We’re hoping to get the SM to step aside to an advisory role, but not the overall lead. How should we approach the conversation?
M&A Tax Salaries - What is the expected salary range for someone in M&A tax in NYC / SF / LA for Manager, Senior Manager, and Director level?
Would you move to industry for a 15% increase in base plus more bonus (overall 25% increase in package)? Asking for a SM friend 😊
I’m a second year tax manager in B4 and getting tired of the hours. With no pay increases coming anytime soon, I’m starting to think about jumping to industry to try it out. Would I be smarter to do another year+ to get to Senior Manager, then look to leave? What more would that get me in terms of title/comp?
I’m very very happy at work, the MD & SM make me feel like I’m on top the world. How much salary bump is a season for me to leave?? The question is serious.
Looking for relevant market data, as most public salary information is from recruiting firms and is inflataed to a certain degree.... Salary as a senior manager in the first and second year, please include bonus separately, preferably Midwest to adjust for COL... wondering how bad this number really is before I look to bail

Recruiter contacted me about an audit principal/signing director position at CLA. I'm assuming that is like RSM's senior manager/senior director position. Anyone have more details on compensation? This would be in a medium COL city.
Question for this group if anyone has gone to industry/knows the comp scale. My client (large pharma) wants me to apply for a new digital product manager role they have available. They are asking 10 yrs experience, global team. I’m up for promo to SM this year so would have to be a good offer to consider the move. What would be a reasonable total comp expectation?
Considering companies are cutting raises and bonuses, have any of you found new jobs that are giving a pretty considerable % increase? Or is the job search coming up low on salary offerings too?

I need some advice. I finished my MBA in May T20 and have had trouble landing a role in consulting. I have 7 YoE in finance and now have the opportunity for a manager role at my current company (Fortune T10 company) I’m nearing 30 and decided to pursue my MBA with the intention of moving into consulting. The compensation would probably be $20-30K lower, but retirement and very liberal vacation make it appealing. I’m trying to weigh my options but would appreciate any advice or stories?
Negotiating offer tips? Specifically around adding a signing bonus, and maybe increasing PTO days..

We have two open media planner positions in Durham, NC that we’re actively interviewing for. Our client needs are heavily digital and social. That said, we don’t separate media, analytics, programmatic and adOps responsibilities, our media team is responsible for it all from ideation through optimization. We have high expectations for ourselves, but also have a great support system in place that emphasizes development at all levels. If you’re excited by this type of a role, shoot me a note. It seems that management doesn’t always understand that employee engagement is tied to many things such as work/life balance, benefits, workload, etc. Any ideas on how to present this type of info to management? We have already done an engagement survey and delivered results but there is lack of action planning which is also not heavily backed up by leadership. Any ideas on how to deliver this message so it makes an impact?
